I was 17-19 when I first saw Tenchi Universe. This music I always thought was dark for the series, until... that scene. That hit HARD... like a steel-spiked boot to the heart hard. I full-on cried when I saw this. Hell, I still do. It's that powerful, and that well done.

from me I feel that tenchi in some way big or small is marred to ayeka and royoko but I feel that its really ryoko and tenchi that belong together in tenchi muyo and universe you really got to see ryoko's feelings come out for tenchi. tenchi muyo movie are awesome my best 2 when tenchi had a daughter and when he got to meet his younger dad and when he got to meet his mom.

MrWashu12 This is actually confirmed in a way in the 'Did you Know Anime' video featuring Petrea Burchard. Apparently according to that, the story was originally supposed to follow Tenchi and Ryoko's growing relationship and the other characters were "simply there to balance the story". So, there you go! Ryoko fans rejoice.

If I could redo the animation and framing for Ryoko's 'death' scene, it would be to have her arm hanging the entire time, but not show the audience anything below the abdomen. Then as the song ends, slowly pan down to show the blood dripping from her arm... into a huge puddle, for the shock reveal that she was bleeding to death the entire time she was giving her final monologue. The impact would have been even more powerful. Structuring a scene to build the drama is a huge part of the art of any film-making. Every scene is a sculpture.
