Incredibly impressive ! I wouldn’t have believed that someone as young could have had all those skills and determination. The steel work looks great but it would be good to add aluminum welding to your list of skills. A lot of the steel parts you made look very heavy and likely detract from the performance.

Very well done 🎉🎉🎉 the only thing is from the way I understand gel coat is. It dries from the inside out. So what u have to do is actually roll it on and cover it with plastic. I looked into doing the gel coat on my boat. It was a lot of knowledge to take in. But other than that well done. Suggest getting rid of as much steel as u can. Use stainless where u can and aluminum where u can. Keep the steel base though. That’s where u really need it. Unfortunately with boats too. Placement is key.

I think adding safety redundancies in it would have been a good idea. A second bilge pump, bulkheads and a foam filled area for floatation just in case one of those hoses comes off or you hit something. That thing could take on water fast and become an anchor. Very nice work by the way. I know that I wouldn’t be able to do what you did on it. It’s absolutely incredible.

Good job 👍 but I have some notes 1 safety Kay ! 2 I think there’s extra weight. You use a lot of steel 3 if you find someway to remove transmission that be petter 4 should you remove transfer belt and find someway to contact crankshaft directly with jet Finely you will done .. all the best

What an awesome job! Well done... Perhaps put a water flap/door on the exhaust outlet so water can't get forced up the exhaust when you stop or you do a 360 and stop. Just a simple gravity flap would work. How is it holding up? Any update? I am watching in march 2024. Greetings from Australia
@nicgurkweitz389
@nicgurkweitz389 Жыл бұрын
So I know you put the wire mesh in there as a vent but my advice it to make a vent cover to prevent water coming in, you do that by making the exhaust of the vent cover pointing down towards your feet in kinda an L shape, so it's venting downwards which will help keep water out of the inside as you take on water from the front.

Cool boat but I see so many potential problems. The “rack on the back of the seat is a problem. It’s something to snag on. The handles seem upside down. The reverse pull is where you can hurt yourself and it’s in the way. It should be a lever on the side where you cant hit it. Foot rests so you can stop yourself from sliding forward and being on the bars. The hull to deck fittings should be every 8”. At least 8mm. The seat should have a latch in the back. Some eyelets to tie to. Grab handle on transom. Pull eye on bow. So many things. You have many points of failure. Don’t go out far or alone. It’s neat but keep making it better. A big fishing platform with a roof and a drive unit would be so much cooler and productive. Another thing is the weight. The trim is off. Trim tabs would help.

Great job. I’m thinking you might not have enough external air intake vents? Low air can cause more smoke. You want that top speed right? also since your fuel tank vent is in the engine room. Please add a marine grade vent fan. And absolutely need a bilge pumps. I’d hate to watch this project go under water. Fantastic work.

My Dad was the #1 Jetsprint Racer in NZ back in the day so I helped him pull jet units apart and put them back together again many many times, always trying something to make them a bit better. Your self-fabbed jet unit is just so cool. Well done. The whole project looks fantastic, especially the handling. Just one engineering question, is it possible to separate the motor from the gear box? By the time you gear the engine down in the gear box and then gear it back up again you could probably run the engine direct to the jet unit saving time, effort and weight. I am assuming that 6th gear is direct drive like a car though. Great job!

Really enjoyed this build series, what you've done is excellent! Hat's off to you sir. One thing I did notice right at the end there, where you've made the joins of the rubbe seal around the two halves, I think you'll have an issue with water ingress in both of those corners. I think what would have been better, is if you carried on round each corner and made the join on the straight, and if you couldn't do one join (because maybe the lengths of the rubber weren't long enough), made sure any joins were on a straight part, instead of at the corners 👍 Amazing end result though!

A zx12 will not perform as well as it should do without the RAM air intake hooked up so that extra air enters the intake at higher speeds. You may not be getting its full potential without directing air into the two intakes from the front of the jetski. A motorcycle designed for RAM air will hesitate and lack power from about 5k rpm upwards.
