It amazes me how anyone can miss the whole point of why someone makes this Type of Video? She’s not trying to convince anybody to buy anything, or to change their lives? She is just trying to de-mystify the process of owning and operating an Electric Vehicle, for the benefit of a large number of people who have no knowledge or experience of doing so. Good luck to her! If anyone doesn’t agree let them make a reasoned response or stay quiet.

Nicely done. One suggestion for a future episode: most people would be blown away by seeing an example of what the equivalent cost per gallon or liter of gasoline would be. Many more people would hurry to go electric if they realized it could be like fueling with gasoline at well under a dollar per gallon in my area when charging at the right time of the day. Teach people about using the built in timer to charge at the best time.

This is a Brilliant Guide to Anyone who knows very little about about Electric Cars, I knew absolutely nothing about Electric Cars Seven Months ago until I sat in a Tesla Series 3 and fell in Love with a Seductive almost Sexual Experience. It was so out my reach, Price, Style and Experience that it would remain a Dream for the rest of my Elderly life? I read everything I could about E Cars, all types and Styles, watched innumerable Videos (including the whole Six Episodes from this lovely Lady) and expanded my research into interest in Solar, Home Batteries and Chargers. I now own an MG ZS EV, have a Zappi 2 Home Charger installed in my Garage and I am Saving Up for Solar Panels and a Powerwall 2. Which I learnt about by watching a Robert Llewelyn Video. I am 82 years Old and if it wasn’t for this Damn Virus I would be zipping about the Countryside in Silence, at a Cost so Low as to be unbelievable Eight Months ago in my New Ford Ecosport SUV?? Thank you for an Excellent Video.

I have a question regarding the rising cost of public charging. It’s really putting me off looking at electric. Firstly there is the far higher cost of the car but now in many counties it’s costing more to charge than a fossil fuel fill. Massive mistake here. What are your thoughts? Paying more up front for cheaper running costs make sense but paying more all round is a major turn off. It’s now purely an environmental choice which will hinder growth or stop it in its tracks.
@peterjol4 жыл бұрын
I do think all the companies should work together and produce a totally standard method of charging with no noticeable differences for the consumer to work out at all.
@mikeyonwin81954 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter. Welcome to the world of commercial competition. It reminds me of the VCR developments of Ampex, Toshiba, Philips, Sony, RCA, Sanyo, Panasonic, Funai, Technicolor, JVC, Matsushita etc. It took ages before an international standard emerged. I do, however, agree with you - this is the 21st Century after all 😜.

There are more charging points than petrol stations in the UK? That's a surprise. In the US there are around 80000 charge points and about 168000 gas stations. Of course, to be fair, if you also add all of the places you can just plug in to a (slow) electrical outlet then the charging points run into the millions for both places. (That last bit is the part that gas/petrol-heads conveniently forget to mention when criticizing EV adoption).
@JustWasted3HoursHere4 жыл бұрын
Interesting that in the US the cables are permanently attached to the charge point (destination) but in the UK you bring your own cable. The good part about that is that your cable is probably more likely to stay in good condition than if you have thousands of other people using it.
@JustWasted3HoursHere4 жыл бұрын
Wait...You can choose your electric utilities company? Logistically, how does that work? What entity is your house connected to for power? If you choose another company do they reroute your house to another physical electricity supplier? In the US basically your electricity supplier is determined by what area you live in, and the suppliers (utility company) has a long-term contract with the local government to be the sole supplier in that area.
@GajitUK4 жыл бұрын
@@JustWasted3HoursHere Your house is connected to the National Grid. It's actually generally unlikely that the energy you consume will generated by the company you pay, but the UK wholesale energy market works such that the company you pay will either generate or buy enough energy into the grid to cover your use. That leaves us broadly free to pick and choose from any company we like. I have to say I find the American way of doing it peculiar. For the land of the free you seem to have a surprising lack of freedom to choose your utility providers!

Why not also include hydrogen combustion vehicles not just electric like Stanley Meyer's fuel cell technology electrolysis to make your own HHO fuel in a modified combustion engines that required stainless steel component to prevent rust damage along with a smart subsystem... unless it is the very same line of Nikola Tesla's electric car that did not require a battery or battery storage as the energy is free to use that exists all around us within the Earth and in the atmosphere - he also demonstrated on the very first RC sailboat model he modified using the same technology to direct the model boat?!? There is also Troy Reed's electromagnetic surge motor engine that worked only had the standard 12v car battery to operate redundant systems was also recharged by the technology within the Geo Metro compact care he had converted...

I had similar concerns, but I realised that in fact I could charge it every night at home (I have off street parking - I know that not everyone does). So in fact it actually SAVES me time. No more visits to petrol stations (for 99% of the time). It's very rare that I do more than around 120 miles in one day. I realise this might not be your situation. I've done a few long journeys in my 2019 Leaf. I plan the stops for Rapid charges around toilet/coffee/meal breaks and it's been no hassle. Virtually no waiting around. I made one timing cock up once, which resulted in an unexpected 40 mins in a motorway services..... that's it - the only hassle I've had in five months of running an EV. It's difficult to explain this to someone who hasn't experienced it. It's a change in mindset and operating method - but that doesn't mean less efficient or more hassle - just a different way of thinking.

It's beyond stupid to use a set of batteries to charge the battery pack in your car. There needs to be easy changeable battery packs that one can stay at home during the day to charge. Then on trips you can have quick change batteries the whole way, so you never have to stop longer than the time to swap them out if there's an available charged battery pack ready.
