FULTON STREET ELEVATED in pictures

The Fulton St El was easily Brooklyn's most beloved el . Having brushed the very door steps of BKLYN's Boro hall gave it great photo graphic exposure. . First opened in part in 1888 , it was eliminated in two parts, first in 1940 from downtown Brooklyn to Rockaway Av. ,then the outer end in bklyn in 1956. The BROOKLYN part of the Fulton St. El was totally replaced with the Fulton St. subway between the 1930's to 1956. Today only the Queens portion which dates after 1914 still runs.

The pics at Rockaway ave were post 1940 when it was the last stop towards downtown brooklyn and you got a paper transfer to connect with the A underground.
