I love this video Teoh, I think the mixed media looks really cheerful! I like to use some watercolour pencils, tombow dual tip markers (they're water based and melt into watercolours), and just got some gold ink to try out! (I'm quite excited about this one!) 😊

Is it possible we, your viewers, are witnessing an elevation to your artistic journey? It's so good to see you applying multimedia techniques, especially the colored pencils, in your work. For me, I find it takes my work to a higher level and even deeper immersion, which is very therapeutic. Wonderful artwork, as always, and love the narrative and detail you provide! Thank you, Teoh! :)

Sometimes it's fun to try other media, to mix and match :-)

I enjoyed this video. This method of sketching looks like fun. Thank you.

I love to use my microns, zig pens, kuretake brush pen, coloured pencils (getting Faber Castell Polychromos soon!!). Sometimes I like to sketch with my purple or red V5 Pilot Hi-Techpoint pens, then go over in watercolour using the Pentel brush pen. Also the Uni ball signo pens and posca pens. Lovely video as always! The magic pencil also looks quite fun to use when you want the picture to look more fun 😊

+Polar Bear Polychromos is very good coloured pencils.

Great video! The magic pencil is really fun and helps to loosen up sketching with an element of the fun and unexpected. I also like to use water soluble graphite and of course, pen and ink along with watercolors.

I have two sets of the jelly roll pens from Sakura. They are different, one is called Souffle and the other is Moonbeam. I use both sets quite often, especially when I want to mark on dark watercolor.

Thank you so very much. This is just what I needed to KNOW! I am painting very small ivy leaves with watercolor, but I want a white fine tip pen to draw in some veins. I always enjoy your presentations and knowledgeable skill.

This is a very interesting and informative video! These are great tips for adding detail and hinting at detail in watercolor sketches. I use a lot of color marker over ink sketches so I will be definitely using these techniques. I have used Prismacolor pencil over marker and ink drawings. I recently bought a Pilot white gel pen that I really like using. You showed a lot of different materials and techniques in this short video. Great job!

soft pastel/chalk pastel is also a good mixed media tool for watercolour. Intensify your colour super easy and works well on rough paper but it is just a little bit messy.

Good info, I like how you experiment with the supplies. Those brush markers, the Zig Clean Colors will blend and bleed when used with a water brush or clean water on watercolor paper. Do you use watercolor pencils? I'm not sure when they are most useful.

Nice video, I'm using white gel pen as well but the color seems too transparent when it's dry.

I have the Signo white gel pen which strangely is not waterproof - it dissolves very readily just like guache. Its good to know the other gel colours are waterproof - might give them a try.
@walkmichigan22577 жыл бұрын
That Signo white gel pen is the best one I've yet to use for going on top of Watercolor. I tried the gely roll (spelling probably not right) and it was not nearly as white as the Signo. Depending on your use, I think you already have the best one.
@gorway77 жыл бұрын
In away I quite like the solubility, I sometimes apply a damp brush to soften edges on highlights I've penned in, it looks more natural, but there have been times that I tried to tint over the gel pen to knock it back a bit as i have heard people doing but it just melts away - Think I would need the Gelly Roll for that. The white Signo is a great pen though.

I'm interested in trying some Bamboo paint brushes. I have some of the sumi calligraphy brushes but I saw some bamboo brushes with goat and bamboo brushes with sable bristles. Do you have a review video on any of those? If not, would you be able to do a review on them? I am looking for inexpensive brushes that perform well. That can hold lots of water and paint and also has good spring and comes back to a nice point. I was also looking for water brushes that have natural bristles instead of synthetic but I haven't found any. I want to improve my watercolor and I wonder if I need better brushes.
@teohyc7 жыл бұрын
I cannot remember how the goat hair brush performs. You can look for squirrel brushes, or imitation squirrel brushes (I think it's Escoda Ultimo). You can search Jackson's Art UK - they have free shipping for brush purchases above £20. goo.gl/pteKwj Also check out reviews for Da Vinci 5530 Mixed B brush. I've reviewed it here www.parkablogs.com/content/review-da-vinci-series-5260-watercolour-brush-box-set

Didn't know anything like the magic pencil existed; thanks for sharing that ! Also, do the Kuretake brush pens use real bristles, or is it a felt tip brush pen ?
@teohyc7 жыл бұрын
+Shahema Tafader Most Kuretake brush pens I know of have bristles. I can't say if it applies to all their brush pens though.
