why is it they dont use chains in heavy snow and or on the dual wheels run tracks with the air system easy to do and keep adjusted and more ground coverage and traction great video!
@Quest422 жыл бұрын
With low tirepressure there is plenty of traction on snow, as long as the lockers work..
@neilqsmith57482 жыл бұрын
Chains can cause negative effects in deep snow (dig too deep) - Best to reduce tire pressure and use the tire traction to carefully drive forward.

Great video! What GPS equipment and mapping software do you use to navigate on the glacier? Do you guys use kinetic ropes?
@Quest422 жыл бұрын
Safetravel.is keeps up to date information on crevasses on all the glaciers. Garmin in Iceland provides maps with this information incorporated, so we use Garmin GPS and PC software that can also load Garmin maps. Not sure if the rope we had on that trip had a kinetic label when it was sold from the shop, but it is dynamic enough for its task :)

@@Quest42 - Great info, thanks! Do you ever use the maps from vefsja iskort?
@Quest422 жыл бұрын
I have actually not seen the web version before, but I know one of the guys use Avenza map and I think I heard him say he uses maps from iskort. Thanks for the tip :)

@@Quest42 - I've spent hours exploring the web version, looking for different tracks and routes I want to explore. Was wondering how their maps through Avenza compare to the Garmin ones. The Avenza Vefsja maps aren't cheap. Happy to help!
