I run a nice deck with Xyris, the Writhing Storm whose game plan is group hug at the start by giving everyone a bunch of extra card draw, then later on mowing people down with an army of snake tokens Xyris produces, usually buffed up by stuff like craterhoof behemoth, end-raze forerunners, or a sneaky overloaded scale up

Symmetrical effects are great. I think my favorite commander for now is Rocco, Street Chef for how versatile it is while helping everybody around the table

I find Baron Von Count both fun to play and fun to play against! Once you cast him, you become temporary archenemy, which feels so thematic. And if the "heroes can't come together against the villain"?? You start to pick them off one by one. And it's fun to play against him and team up against the clock, whilst also begging for your life when he goes off 😂

"Secret" Deck Tech: Run Marchesa in the 99 of your Mathas deck and you can swap it out as commander to play a lower powered deck with a different enough playstyle to play them back to back. Great for the "Kitchen Table" Edit: I probably wouldn't play it the other way around, as Mathas is going to want more specific cards for its effect than Marchesa.

Selvala is one of my favorite commanders. My most recent build is a land recycling/Populate unique Tokens build, and I previously made a Turbofog Legendary Matters build with her. But Group Hug is fine, I suppose. I also highly recommend Kwain for such a strategy. I don’t think I’ve ever paid more than 4 mana for him, because no one wants to remove the Draw and Fluff rabbit.

How could you ignore the generous jellyfish? Gluntch, the Bestower has gotta be the one of the most enjoyable commanders I've played with, he keeps the peace against your opponents and juices your boardstate at the same time.

I found Gluntch to be almost oppressive with the amount of ramp it gives to the controlling player early on.

I play a “group slug” deck that plays a bunch of effects to help everyone out, playing things like Mana Flare and Heartbeat of Spring, Tempt with Discovery, etc… And then it plays War’s Toll… okay well now everyone needs to tap out for all their mana if they want to cast spells… Then Yarok comes out of the command zone and suddenly people need to be really careful about how the spend their mana.
