Thanks man! I really appreciate that! I should be getting more content this weekend. I try to get enough each trip out to make videos all week long. Sometimes I get anxious and dump it all on KZbin at once lol. Again, thank you very much for your feedback and for watching! Means a lot!

@@MidwestRCcrawler you are using your phone to film? do you have a rig setup or just holding it

@@travelinwithTODD just using my iPhone 14 Pro Max and a selfie stick. Nothing special. I edify it all from my phone as well.

Really like the shot @10:40 especially the tire drop at the end. Then the following shot right after another masterpiece. Really enjoy the long format you have. I am still out looking on the hiking trails near by for good crawling spots.

Wow! Thanks man! Idk about a masterpiece, I’m new at all this and still trying to learn how to make good video quality for everyone. I really appreciate the compliments! I guess I need to check on which clip you’re referring to. As far as the long format I have, my first attempt at sharing these last 3 videos, it was one long video, at 1 hour. I didn’t even have all the footage reviewed and edited on that video. It was taking forever to upload. Kept saying 7-8 hours to finish. I said nope. Went back and split it into 3 videos, just so I could get it out there. Another note, I’m still figuring out what everyone likes or wants to see. What’s a good length video to share. Short ones, medium or long ones. Some videos just hit and some just sit there barely watched. So yeah, again, thank you and thanks for watching!

@MidwestRCcrawler Exactly what I am trying to do. Do you have a 3 axis gimbal? Your shots are nice and still. I have only 1 long format and a bunch of shorts posted. But waiting on the nicer weather and have been busy getting the micros back in working order. Made a small foam and plaster hill for them as well.

@@Electric_City_RC all I’m using is my iPhone 14 Pro Max on a selfie stick. I just mount my phone so I can hold it down at ground level with my left hand and drive with my right hand. My selfie stick has a Bluetooth remote that I can start/stop when I need. It has a zoom in and out buttons, but I’ve never got them to work. Haven’t really needed it I guess. But yeah, that’s all I use. I’ve been thinking about a mini rig, just something else to run around in spare time when I can’t get out. lol

@MidwestRCcrawler That's what's mines for. And the local hobby shop stays open 2 hours later on Wednesdays for crawler night (1/24 and 1/18 scale). And you are a lot steadier than I would be with a selfie stick lol. It looks good, keep at it! 👍

@MidwestRCcrawler8 ай бұрын
Tbh, I don’t get to get out as much as I’d like to, so when I do go, I get as much footage as possible. Sometimes it’s so much my phone dies and then I have to make the trek back with no footage lol. I love getting out. It’s my much needed tiny truck therapy and it’s good exercise. Which I need lol

Hey man! I have a question for you if you don't mind. I notice your videos have a very realistic feel to them in terms of the vehicle response and suspension, and I'm wondering if you have any tips as far as recording framerate and playback speed. I found that recording @ 120fps and then dropping the speed to around 45% (so around 54fps) helps, but it still doesn't hold a torch to how cool yours looks.
@MidwestRCcrawler8 ай бұрын
Hey! Thanks for seeing that. I’ve been playing around with settings, shocks and different sizes and what not. I’ve asked on other channels that have way better footage and realism. I’m still no where close to what’s out there. What I’m doing now is just running my shocks dry on the cj. I’m still figuring out how to make it even more realistic. If you haven’t seen the channel, Rc Footage, you need to, if you’re wanting to see super realism with suspension responsiveness. Especially their cj7 videos. On my xj, it’s a much more heavy rig and I’m using trx4 gts shocks with the stock .45 and .54 spring rates with 45wt oil. I’m gonna try a lighter oil in that rig and see if I can get even more realism out of it. I’m worried that it being so top heavy and a hard body, it may suffer extreme body roll. As far as the cj, just running the stock 100mm shocks, dry. Lightest oils that I can find is 15wt and I’ve tried 20wt before. Hope this helps man! Trail on!

@@MidwestRCcrawler Thanks for writing all of that up! I appreciate all the little things with this type of driving that makes it more realistic. Personally I think your stuff looks great. Excellent work!
@MidwestRCcrawler8 ай бұрын
@@GeddyRC no problem man. If I’m doing something and someone is asking me how I do it, I’ll share it. It may not be the best or greatest thing out there, but I’ll at least share what I’m doing. I must be doing something right, even if it’s just one thing lol. I do know that with hauling the trailer, that hinders the look of the jeeps suspension. I noticed that it rides more rigid than without. I’m wondering if I’ve made my cj too light to get that little bit more of realism in the suspension. I’ve removed both battery trays and just stuck a lihv shorty pack on the side to free up some weight. Now I’m wondering if that’s the key, a little more weight. I mean it’s a double edged sword for sure. Realism with dry shocks or tuned shocks for performance. I’ve seemed to find that balance somehow. I haven’t seen much difference in performance honestly. It’s weird. Just got to play around with your setups my friend.
@MidwestRCcrawler8 ай бұрын
@@GeddyRC Geesh! I forgot to mention the other side to it lol. To achieve more realism, I try to drive faster than normal forcing the shocks to work harder and then slow my speed rate down by half, at the least. Sometimes more. Depends on how fast I was driving in a particular clip. It isn’t the greatest way to film, but all I have is my iPhone 14 Pro Max, set to 4k and 60fps. All of my latest videos, basically starting with the cj have been edited this way. Slow crawling is from 1.0 normal speed to .5 speed. Faster runs I could go as low as .2 but around .3 it starts to affect the playback quality. If I had a much higher quality camera set up, it could be epic. Anyway, sorry I forgot that part.

Thanks for sharing the video. I like not having music stuck on top of the video. I dream of shooting my own video someday and I would add bird song to mine. Australia watching.
