As a person with darker skin who has a serious vitamin D deficiency that I could go on about since it’s likely responsible for a shocking number of my mild ailments this information is really appreciated

You can get shots. Have you asked your doctor about it? Not all doctors offer supplement shots, but if they do it's alot better. When you take supplements that go through the digestive system you don't absorb them that much. Hope that helps
@themushroominside6540 Жыл бұрын
Vitamin d is called a Vitamin for a reason! it actively plays a role in gene expression and without it your body wouldn't be able to make enough proteins since it is a signaling chemical to transcribe DNA into RNA. It also plays a role in metabolism, meaning deficiencies can lead to severe complications.

@AnalistGuffy Жыл бұрын
there are many large differences between fungi and plants, including that plants are producers with chlorophyll that make their own food through photosynthesis. fungi are not producers and do not have chlorophyll, rather they are decomposers that break down decaying matter for their food. unlike plants that consist of roots, stem, and leaves, fungi consist of mycelium, a fruiting body (the mushroom), and spores. spores being another difference-fungi reproduce mainly asexually through spores, while most plant reproduce sexually through pollination. all in all, they are very different, so not strange that mushrooms (fungi) are not considered plants. might be confusing to some just because they don’t have eyes and mouths and move and breathe like animals.

If you don't have celery in your garden this coming year, I'd highly suggest it! It grows so quickly and large. And you can harvest it till November. It wasn't bothered by the cold until it started to snow. So depending on when you get snow, these plants can go for a long time. Plus you can also take in some in pots for winter to replant the next year!

I did actually know that! Recently read about it. They specifically produce vitamin d2 which is considered "less" nutritious than vitamin d3 from animal tissue (you need more if you eat d2 over d3). The fun thing is that you can also get vitamin b12 from shiitake mushrooms! People often think vitamin b12 can only come from animal sources, that isn't true at all!

b12 is in the dirt so if youre growing your own fruit and veg youll often get b12 from the not chemically washed bleached frozen for a year transported across the planet produce you get in store. so even if you cant grow youre on and frankly you can basically everywhere even if its only a couple things no matter climate or type of home anyway what you cant grow yourself at least get from local farms or as fresh as possible because in season stuff i way better for you and its usually what your body needs at that time of year anyway and the fresher it is the more nutrients.
@Ericatrue2.0 Жыл бұрын
I love shiitaki mushrooms. Good to be reminded. Lol I forgot that
@tjeulink Жыл бұрын
@@EmmaAppleBerry stuff from farmer markets is usually less fresh than frozen produce, because frozen produce is chemically stable and frozen within hours of harvesting. Whereas produce at markets and stores is days if not months or sometimes even years old(apples for example). Frozen veggies and fruits most of the time are more nutritious in terms of vitamins and minerals because of that The fruit etc doesnt actually absorb b12 from the soil, its just the dirt that sticks on there that has b12 in there. If you wash your fruit and veg with any water you wash away that b12 too, probably even if you brush the dirt off. But the problem is that most farmground is depleted from that bacteria due to overfarming and pesticides anyways. And you can't really test for it so it becomes pretty much impossible to get vitamin b12 without using supplements. Even farm animals use supplements, thats where we get our b12 from when eating meat funnily enough.

I'm still shocked that there are still people in the world who don't know that the various skin tones are literally just adaptations for wherever your ancestors happen to have evolved. All my ancestors are from Northern Europe. Northern Europe=Not a lot of sun. Therefore, our skin is lighter, so we can take in what little vitamin D we can get. If you or your ancestors are from closer to the equator, you're most likely going to have darker skin to protect yourself from sun exposure and too much vitamin D. That's it, that's all it is
