Now, in those days, giraffes had short necks, much like zebras or antelopes. Despite his shorter stature, Gimble was determined to reach those high leaves. He watched as monkeys climbed with ease, birds flew to the top, and even the clever cheetah made an impressive leap.
Gimble pondered and pondered, trying different methods. He stood on rocks, balanced on fallen logs, and even tried to leap like the cheetah, but nothing worked. Then, he had an idea. He approached his friend, the wise tortoise named Tutu.
“Tutu,” Gimble said, “I need to reach the highest leaves, but I just can’t get up there. What should I do?”
Tutu, who was known for his clever solutions, thought for a moment and then said, “Gimble, sometimes the solution is right in front of you. You need to stretch yourself beyond what you think is possible.”
Gimble took Tutu’s advice literally. He began stretching his neck every day, reaching as high as he could to nibble at the leaves just out of reach. Day by day, inch by inch, Gimble’s neck grew longer. The other animals watched in amazement as Gimble’s neck stretched higher and higher.

From that day forward, Gimble became the wisest animal in the savannah, known not only for his long neck but also for his clever ideas and kind heart. And that is how the giraffe got its long neck and became a symbol of reaching for the highest goals, no matter how impossible they may seem.
And whenever the animals gathered to hear tales under the baobab tree, they would look up at Gimble’s long neck with admiration and remember the lesson of perseverance and stretching beyond one’s limits.
