@@AMP98765 Excellent plan, IMO, and it's similar to my own. Only significant difference is that I had been retired for 5 years before I started stacking. My primary wealth building activity prior to the start of stacking silver and gold was buying stock shares. That worked well but the lesson of 2008 was that while it's great to build wealth, it's also great to protect what one has, hence I stack.

Fun Gold like Fun Silver is...fun. It is to enjoy and not get stuck on. Yes technically it's part of your stack but it's not the same thing and any stacker knows this. Fun stuff has a premium that you might not get back when you sell but it's still nice to have and enjoy and admire.

The brilliant thing about ancient gold is that although you rightly point out it has a somewhat limited population of dealers and collectors, there are records of people studying, buying and selling them at LEAST since Petrarch, in the 1350s! Thats nearly 700 years ago! And its quite likely people will still be interested in collecting ancient coins 700 years from now 😄

In a recession or depression, it is a great time to buy numis. Hold your powder for that unaffordable coin on your wishiest wish list. Winter is coming. You’ll also be helping someone who really needs cash. Win win. And if you have numis to sell, wait for the boom which inevitably follows the recession depression. Like spring follows winter. You get the idea.

Buy!!! People are so hyper focused on spot! You buy to protect your wealth against devaluation. Spot DOESN'T matter unless you're a reseller. Rome fell because their denari eventually was 97% lead. They collapsed because of devaluation, and less ability to pay their military real $$. We are the modern day Rome, forget spot, buy no matter what the spot price is!

What’s funny is here in Sweden you won’t find a bullion dealer anywhere. There’s some that sales online and a few has a physical shop, however buying and selling numismatic stuff that you can find 1 or 2 shops in any town. Now me I found myself a 3rd party operator that holds my stuff and I make monthly installments. I will however pick up my physical gold once I save enough. All in all the past year I’ve been saving 120 grams = 3,8 ounces along with 140 ounces of silver. For us this is our “bitcoin” we will continue to buy for as long as we have income. The goal is retirement in about 15 years. But if a gold revaluation happens prior to that, who knows.

Your "fun gold" is my standard stacking gold. I'm in Australia and the Perth Mint stuff is the cheapest on release. American gold eagles and buffalos are more expensive from a dealer. The lunars, rectangle dragons and Myths & Legends gain a very large premium on the secondary market. This means I make a large premium on resale after a few years. There are buying/selling opportunities when you have one foot in the bullion side and the other on numismatic gold. Market conditions can shrink or expand the delta between the two. In a way, you aren't putting all your gold in one basket. I'm guessing there are similar opportunities within subsets of each.

I've bought at spot dealers choice a few times. Mostly because non denom rounds are not taxed in my state. So I got this dogecoin design at spot back when it was around $2k because nobody wanted them and it's carrying a nice premium now. Luck of the draw and I will sell it to the first sucker, I mean buyer who can't wait to hold a golden dogecoin for the premium. I think tax wise it's easy to forget you can write that and the premium off in cost basis. For spot or you just like the design and it helps you stay interested in stacking go for it. It's not hurting anything and it'll probably make up the premium eventually. I grabbed one of those beautiful flowing hair golden ladies direct from the mint too. No ragrets.

I'm on the fence on whether I continue with the high relief. I'm missing two already.

I kkow that it can be quite risky buying there because of fakes. But are there any drawbacks when selling on eBay?

I only have one collection gold coin in my stack, it’s the 1 oz gold Samoa 88 tala lunar dragon coin with a mintage of only 888 of them and I paid around $2300 if memory serves and then it went up in value to $3200+, and my question is since the gold spot price keeps going up, does the value/worth/premium of the coin continue to go up on it as well??

At one time, even the most successful and dedicated stackers started his or her stacking journey with very little. It's THAT we start, not how we start, that matters. There's also something to be said for how we complete the trip.

2 is 1. What are your thoughts on the Scottsdale Mint Commander Series. They are beautiful stamped coins, not rounds, and SD Bullion is the only place I have seen them available. What are your thoughts on this topic. The price seems to be lower when they are newly released. It is a 12 coin set, released in intervals that allow a person to save up in between releases. Do you think they would be a good investment on return or just stray away?

I've never sold any of my gold yet 😄 I usually buy whatever is cheapest of the best known coins, but I do once in a while splurge on a dragon coin. I just love my dragons and those I would sell the last 🤩
