Dixie is so calm during her grooming, which I find absolutely amazing. My daughter's dog would see a clipper and take off running under the bed, even if she was just going to give her husband a haircut. You cat is beautiful.

I make dog treats for my Bella. Recipe is simple and vet approved. Just pumpkin purée. Peanut butter and whole wheat flour with a touch of water. She loves them! And yes I tried them myself and they are yummy.

Dixie is adorable!!!!!! I had a Doberman that used to come running when we would get out the vacuum cleaner. She would sprawl out on the floor and we would put the upholstery brush on the vacuum and sweep her. I would do one side and tell her to turn over and she would roll over so we could sweep the other side. We had to vacuum the dog before we could vacuum the floor lol.

Loved the 💅. I often make homemade cat food and if I am cooking an appropriate meat for a meal, I cut up bits and share with the cats. I also buy a more expensive dry cat food because I have less issues with the cats not tolerating it (cat vomit, to be blunt). I am guilty of cat toys in the cat Christmas stocking but this past year I crocheted my own cat toys which they enjoy just as much.

Dixie's new do looks so good on her! She is such a lucky little girl to have you and Paul taking such loving, good care of her! My gourmet food that I make myself is trail mix. I buy the ingredients at Aldi - peanuts, banana chips, craisins, almonds, and dark chocolate (but you can use whatever you like). Then I take a little portion of each ingredient and put it in a sandwich bag, seal the bag and shake. With minimal effort, I have a delicious trail mix whenever I want it for a fraction of the price. You can also do a savory version with peanuts, almonds, crushed pretzels, and Chex cereal. Hope that helps! Miko from Maryland

I save on pets by not having any, but I seriously love them!!! I "babysit" cats and dogs and chickens frequently. I do feed wild birds in winter at home( buy a large bag on the weekly food market) and have lots of flowers🌼🌺🌸 for bees and butterflies🦋. In our old house we had a small pond where frogs🐸, toads and nauts🦎 came to hibernate. 😀

We have the same glove for our indoor ragdoll. We use it daily and I think we collect enough fur to create a new cat sweater each week! Our outdoor semi feral cat passed last November after 16 years. He never had fleas either. I think they roll in dirt that stops fleas from staying on them. I'd brush him and he'd go straight to a dirt patch to roll.

I have 4 small poodles 1 of which is a teacup. I have a heavy duty Oster clipper with different sized blades. Dogs are always more comfortable at home. The price per dog is $60+. Unfortunately with poodles must have heavy duty clippers. I do my own grooming as well as clipping nails. My teacup poodle has Addisons disease which requires daily medication as well as monthly injections. As a retired medical professional I am able to do all this at home. Any stress exacerbates Addisons so being at home is best for her. I have a feral male cat which I am not able to get close. He was found under my she shed last year. He was loving as a kitten and about 3 weeks old when abandoned. My 6 year old toy poodle developed milk and fed this kitten for 4 months. He had testicles and she was still feeding him! I had to physically separate them.

I confess, I'm not frugal with my dog. Like you, we buy the best dog food and add raw veggies and some cooked chicken and frozen blueberries. I don't color my hair or have my nails done but my dog gets the best of just about everything (O: He also gets walked about 6miles a day rain, shine or snow. He is so worth it.

You folks are wonderful to your pets. We all love our pets. My expense is in grooming her every other month as she is a sheltie, l hope l spelled it right. Her name is ECHO. Well named as she is afraid of everything and barks. If people would run away, she would round them up. When she isn't minding me outside, I point to the lawn chair and she knows she has to sit, so cute as she takes her time getting to the lawn chair. But she stays until l give her permission to get down. We love our pets. I also have a cat and l let her outside everday, if not rainning. She goes under our 17ft. camper, by the back wheel and starts meowing for her morning treets. She never forgets.

We fed our dogs Blue Buffalo until they were 11+ years old when we switched to Science Diet small bites for 11 + years. Our 16 year old 5 lb Chitzu passed away this January and we have her 2 14 year old puppies left. They are our babies but I did spend mega bucks at the vet when our oldest started to fail, probably over $1000 in all but it happened so suddenly last fall. I hand fed her from November until she passed and she got cooked hamburger, puréed veggies, etc. It broke my heart when she passed. She went from running through fields all through the summer to lying in front of the fireplace all fall.

I'm glad to hear you feed your pets what works for them and there should be no debate. Everyone should do what works for their family for everything and also for their pets. Pets are kind of like children who are happy playing with us and with boxes or things that use their imagination and get them moving around. The mango salsa looks beautiful and delicious. Can't wait to try it with the jalapenos, red onion, and tomatoes from our garden. Maybe on a baked potato, salad, or on top of a bowl of chili too. Your nails are beautiful! 1thing my ex & I did while in college instead if going out wed get a couple if in sale steaks & grill at my apartment, there were grills scattered all overud bake potatoes, make a salad, hed also grill zucc., make garlic bread. Wed make enough for 2-3 meals! Yum! It all added uo to a fraction of the cost of 1meal st the near by steakhouse!

I enjoy creating gourmet style pasta dishes like pasta with creamy pesto and chicken - that was last night’s dinner or pasta with butter tomato and onion sauce. Also I make no churn ice cream and today made a batch of salted caramel and a separate batch of coffee chocolate. We also bathe and groom our Aussie, Sophie. She gets brushed daily, gets her teeth brushed several times a week and I also trim her fanny fur (or as someone else calls it: butt curtains). We let the vet handle her nails. I’m so glad your Aunt enjoyed her party.

Great video Emmy and Paul and of course, Miss Dixie.... I too bought a grooming kit from Amazon and it has saved me hundreds of dollars...if not more. I used to take my dogs to get groomed but they stopped allowing one of my dogs to go because of her disability. They way she shakes and falls they were so afraid that she might fall into the shears and get cut. So I spent 20.00 on a cordless rechargeable haircut kit and now I do it myself. My specialty food I make at home instead of buying it is a chicken pasta salad. Yummy, and a full complete meal all on its own. And I don't do manicure's at all. I used to get a pedicure once a year for my birthday in the summer but haven't had one since before COVID-19. Now that things are opening up again, I could go but I rarely wear sandals anymore due to having difficulty walking and needing to wear a more stable shoe. The cost of my pedicure when I did get it was about $20 so it really wasn't that much and it was a once a year thing. Now if I want to treat myself to some sort of foot pampering I might go get a foot massage but again nothing since covid started. The place I would get a foot massage also doesn't charge much. I would love to hear the life and health secrets of your lovely aunt! My cat is 12 years old and unfortunatley very ill since 12 days. She gets lots of medication for lots of money. But we save money for our cat every month. We buy and bought her food at Aldi and she always loved it. Ya'll are good to Dixie and Loris ❤ Living in AL, I'm partial to the name Dixie haha. We have 2 dogs and 3 cats. They're part of our family too. Our Bostie, Olive recently went blind and it happened in a matter of days. She's only 7 years old and it's breaking our hearts. There isn't a cure but if there was, I'd pay whatever we had to in order to cure her. She's starting to adjust, thank God! We have a rescue dog named Stella that has an anxiety disorder that requires medicine. So, we have some high maintenance babies but they're worth it!

Loved this! I didn't know you trim Dixie. I thought you bathed her, and like me, trim overgrown hair on her paws! So impressed. My pups cost about $120 to groom both, plus tip. Honestly, with their long hair, it's worth it. They go every 3 months. Of course I knew you treated your pets as family. Me too! 💕💕💕 Bottom line, I don't save $ on them! Lol! Dixie is such sweet fur baby!! We have 2 fur babies and they are adorable. I don’t think they know they are dogs!! We take very good care of them and we have no insurance! Chico is16 or 17 yes old! Buttercup is 4 I think. They are our babies!

Beautiful video! I don’t mean to be a Debbie Downer, but want to pass along this information. I recently spoke with a dermatologist who stated they were seeing a huge uptick of skin cancer in patients who use uv lights for nails. Use sunscreen on your hands before putting them under the light!

our cat,shamrock,is a rescued stray.found him in a tree about 4 years ago on good Friday,which was the week after st.patricks day.no chip,collar,nothing.had no idea he's a boy for the first year or so. he acted like a female cat. he eats meow mix tender center cat food. fresh cold water daily. clean his litter daily. he is part bobcat,at almost 40 pounds.

Our kitty Gus gets Blue Buffalo too. Your fur babies are precious! I use Honeybee Gardens nail polish because I have asthma and I'm allergic to chemicals. It's water based and I love it. Just be careful with the gel nails because I've read the LED lights emit radiation, I'm not trying to be a wet noodle, just letting you know. Have a great week!

Great video! I am sure you and your niece treasure your time together. She did a wonderful job on your nails! Thanks for sharing how you take care of your pets and when you feel it is best to spend vs. save. Dixie and Lorus both seemed to enjoy their grooming sessions. Paul did a great job - Dixie looked so pretty when she was done! I am going to start taking my cats in for dental cleanings at the vet. Our older cat, who is close to 11 years old just had his big front tooth fall out and he had to have 3 additional neighboring teeth pulled due to an infection. I definitely want to preserve the teeth that he has left. I have heard that dry food is better for cats' dental health, because it helps remove tartar. I would imagine it is the same for dogs. One gourmet food that I occasionally make at home for wayyy less than a restaurant is lasagna. I can make a whole platter of lasagna for the cost of one plate! Your mango salsa looked really good. I bet it would be really good on the side of grilled chicken or fish.

My "old man" Hercules, is a peeka-shu & 15 years old. He can only eat soft foods now because of his teeth but he's like 80 in dog years so I buy it. It's expensive but he needs to enjoy his last few years.

My cat will only eat certain foods...and they change at times. She likes dry food, but has no teeth, so the only kind that's small enough for her to swallow is Blue Wilderness chicken little biscuits. She likes wet food, too. She LOVES tuna, and every once in a while, chicken. It has to be pate because of having no teeth. I stopped buying her toys because she so seldom played with them. She likes a string, paper bag, plastic bag, etc. I bought a package of silicone hair fibs. She took them for her own toys. They're just the right size for her to put in her mouth and carry it around, like caught prey! Plus, they bounce around on the floor when she moves them. I used to make my own stuffed grape leaves...set up like a little factory line. ☺ I haven't made those in years. I used to make my own baklava, too. That saved a lot of money. Again, it's been years. I don't have the ability to cook like that any more. My meals have to be simple, because that's all I have the strength or energy for.
