One of the best looking and sounding bikes ever made. They must have sold a lot more of them in Germany as I saw them all the time when I lived there. In the U.K. , I could count them on one hand.

The german insurance system favoured low power, higher capacity motorcycles. It's rated in PS not cc like the UK.

I've seen about six or seven 400s and 500s here in Australia in the last seven years but I watch videos from Thailand with hundreds and hundreds at SR gatherings

Very hard to find in UK an SR500 with drum brake, tho not impossible, as a few were imported from Germany and France. It seems strange that the birthplace of big singles doesnt embrace the modern take on a very enduring design....certainly onefor thee enthusiast who likes minimalism with fun

I know this is a really old video but for future viewers, also have a thermometer on my SR. Cut a notch into the thermometer so you can tell what the oil level is. I cut my thermometer with a razor blade.

Hey nice bike. I have a 1983 SR 500Hav you any idea how to wire in a battery? Are you able to show me how yours is wired up? I want to upgrade to LED lights + digital speedomoeter but feel the kickstarter power up will blow or damage electronic system on the expensive lights i plan to get...as you know they dot always start on the first kick🙂😂

Hello! Got the same bike yesterday, all original 1992. But there are some things I like about yours. The seat, where did you get that? And the handlebars are those orginal, or did you just put some risers on? Did you have to do any modification for the seat? Really like that you just made some minor changes on the bike, hope you still ride it. Regards from Sweden

How does the drum brake of these bike work? Do they brake hard enough?
@GucciBodyBags4 жыл бұрын
On a sub 400lb bike, the drums are plenty to stop a stock sr500.

Carburetor don't look like original. What model is that and where did you get that?
@scharlachrot4ever7 жыл бұрын
This is a 48T 1993. In Europe (at least Germany and Swiss) they had a Mikuni BST 34 flat slide carb. The old carb was better, easier to tune. I have a K&N high flow airfilter and 162.5 main jet and 47.5 pilot jet.

Hoffentlich hast du inzwichen gelernt, dass man den Ölstand nach der Fahrt prüft und auf keinen Fall auf dem Hauptstäönder ankickt, das ruiniert den Rahmen an den HS Aufnahmen
