I totally understand when the red cardigan gal said women are always told to “smile more” I think yes, of course Jerome means well when he says that to Sora, but to some woman that is offensive. The only time that she shouldn’t be offended is if she is asking for advice from them on why he thinks she’s not getting picked. But this being a dating show, she is soliciting in a public way, so I guess it’s okay. But in real life, no one should tell someone to “smile more” to appease someone else.

I don’t think it was meant as a slight, but Dewey’s English should not have been brought up. It sounded like a backhanded compliment when Dumbfounded praised him for being so confident with his level of English. Why shouldn’t he be confident? Dewey appeared more withdrawn and down after that was said. A lot of people with English as a second language are insecure because their English is not perfect.

I hope Sora won’t be affected by Jerome’s final comment about her. It sounded to me like a complaint that a not-so-confident guy often makes towards a smart, successful, and established woman. Sora, you are attractive as is. Finding a soul mate is not like a popularity contest. You only need one (not even two) person who sees your charm and loves you, and I believe that person is probably one of those who are confident, warm and sensitive. There may not be that many guys with such characteristics, which however shouldn’t be a reason to tailor yourself to the tastes of not so confident, mediocre, and insensitive men.

I totally agree, Jerome is bit insecure as she is so much more successful than he is and I felt uncomfortable listening to his complaint when he pretended it was an advice. Sora is a woman of substance and she should not change for anybody. It is such a shame that some men are so blinded by flirtatious giggly women over genuine and honest women like Sora.
