Hi there, just I need to know in question 10/ how we know that we add whole numbers of women and men and why he add all the numbers??
@SimonHTT Жыл бұрын
The question refers to '...of the people'. And the people they're referring to are all of those that were at the show, so that's the men, women, 18 to 35 and 36 or older. You can think of the question in 2 parts, the first is how many people are there in total (142 + 86 + 175 + 27 = 430) and the second is what is a quarter of this total (1/4 x 430 = 107.5).

Hi Simon, thank you for your videos. They have helped a lot. Do you past paper 4 Level 2?
@SimonHTT Жыл бұрын
That's next on my list to do. Hopefully in the next couple of days.

Can you do past paper 5 too?

@@Sheldon_the_tortoise Unfortunately this paper is locked on the exam board's website, but when it's publicly available it will be next on my list.

Hi simon I’m very grateful for what you’ve done here but I’m confused about question4(B) which the circle is shown that the 135% of people don’t even go to holiday and underneath the circle is written 1800 people went holiday i think 1800 is worth (abroad +UK) not the whole circle Many thanks

Hi, the 1800 does refer to the whole pie chart (it confirms it in the mark scheme which you can get from the Pearson website, see the link under the video) but I see how it can be misleading from the wording. I'm also really struggling to come up with an explanation of how to be sure of the right way to read the question. Usually, there will not be any ambiguity in the question wording but where there is, it's probably reasonable to go with the more straightforward interpretation. Also, use the number of marks being offered as an indication of the amount of work needing to be done.

Hi Simon, Thank you for your help. This will be same in exam ? Please kindly let me know that I would like to learn them as soon 😅

I wish I knew. The questions should be the same level and on similar topics but they try to change them every time so you're having to use what you've learnt and not just memorise the answers. best thing to do is expose yourself to as many practice papers as possible. If you run out, try some of the other exam boards, probably City & Guilds would be the next closest to Edexcel.

for question 4 , can u do half instead of quarter
@SimonHTT Жыл бұрын
If you mean work out half and then take half again to get a quarter then that's fine. But if I've misunderstood the question let me know.

Hi Simon , for question 2 , i estimated it to 20 and 8, and got 12.Would that still be a mark
@SimonHTT Жыл бұрын
Hi, unfortunately I think you would drop a mark, but you might still get a mark if you have stated that the range is the biggest minus the smallest. I suspect this is because they want yo check you can subtract decimals without a calculator, so by estimating you've avoided doing that. Also, I note your estimates are 20 (rounding up from 19.5) and 8. But the lowest value is 9.4, so if you were rounding this should be 9 and you would end up with 20 - 9 = 11. When rounding, start by writing down the two values either side of the number. So with 9.4 this would be 9 and 10. And then decide which is closer, usually remembering that 5s are important in finding half-way so you need to then see is it below this (round down) or above (round up).
