Functions Explained: (ANPR) Automatic Number Plate Recognition

ANPR consist of a camera that is linked to a computer. When a vehicle passes by the camera the camera records an image which is automatically 'read' by the computer and the vehicle registration mark (VRM) recorded.

They don't work on non UK vehicle, because the UK does not have an agreement with the EU anymore, drive a French car in the UK and the ANPR will give no details.

Why is it the police can use the motor insurance database to show you have no insurance. But we can not use it as proof that we are insured. That comes from the operators of the mid.

great, except when i get pulled over and searched 15 times for no reason at all, it began during lockdown when i was in an empty park carpark at midnight for some peace and quiet on a phone call and a police car approached me, claimed i was breaching lockdown while poking his head through my window talking to me without a mask on (which later resulted in them getting re-trained), they searched my vehicle and didn't like what was in my car, i didn't get done for anything, and cops have been harassing me ever since, no crime, no offence, no fines, no cautions, car is legal, never have they stopped and done me for anything at all, and they continue to pull me over - last year, they boxed me in at a junction and put me in cuffs and claimed i was disqualified, they quickly learned that was not true and fucked off as quick as they arrived, not even an apology, their system isn't flawless and neither are the people who use it, just leave me the fuck alone?

Similar thing happening to me mate. Was pulled along with several other cars for “random drug testing” I told him that I’d smoked a small amount of cannabis 2 days earlier. I was immediately hand cuffed and taken to police station. Forced to give a blood sample (which came back under the limit) but now they won’t stop harassing me. This country has such an illusion of freedom.

Sounds like your car is marked mate. Person of interest. Police are very vindictive and will want to catch you doing something now since you’ve proven them wrong. I’d probably flog it and get a new one

Why is insurance a must?

If you got in your car and crashed into a BMW worth £100,000 you wouldn’t be guaranteed to have that sort of money lying around to cover the damage to the other persons car. That is why you need insurance

Same time. Take numbers yeaa same car same color as your. They will see everything same. Maybe owner will not call polic. N sistem will not show it stollen. Or take then you know man is sleeping then he wakes up about drooped it.
