Functions of Coordinating Conjunctions: FANBOYS (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so)

When we need to connect different clauses, combine sentences, or express relationships between parts in a sentence, conjunctions come to play. It is boring to use just simple sentences in an entire paragraph. Not only is it boring, but also it is a hindrance towards a complete understanding of what we want to communicate to our readers or listeners. To avoid the overuse of simple sentences, we need to have a good grasp of conjunctions to play around with words and write other types of sentences.
There are three types of conjunctions. And we'll talk about the first one in this video.

Hi there. Could u tell me pls why u didn’t put a comma before “and” in sentence “she’s beautiful and smart” ?)
@TheEnglishScholar
@TheEnglishScholar Жыл бұрын
Hi, great question! Beautiful and smart are two adjectives. When using comma and 'and', it is a rule to put commas only when the series consists of 3 or more nouns or adjectives. Example: "She is tall, beautiful, and smart." (3 adjectives) "She is tall, beautiful, smart, and kind." (4 adjectives) "The teacher gave badges to Tan, Kate, and Luis." (3 nouns) "The teacher gave badges to Tan, Kate, Luis, and Martha. (4 nouns) If it is just two adjectives or nouns, there is no need to put a comma. Additionally, a comma is needed before 'and' if it is two or more independent clauses to make a compound sentence. If you are interested, you can learn more through the ff. links: Using commas and conjunctions together: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qX_Kfnpudsx1g68 Forming compound sentences: kzbin.info/www/bejne/onXLiaF-ftWdrMU Dependent and Independent Clause: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoaznJSfi9-EhdU Hope this clarified your question :)

In any sentence we can use for instead of because.
@TheEnglishScholar
@TheEnglishScholar Жыл бұрын
Good input! However, it is not grammar alone that needs consideration before using the conjunction "for". We also need the context and the level of formality. We can use it in any sentence, but how would the sentence sound? Sometimes it creates confusion too for a while-the reason why we have "because".

With all respect Madam @ 1:50 you said FANBOYS also connects IC with DC but in all your examples this did not happen. As to me this statement is not okay.
