VVPAT is good. It should be available at all voting booths in all types of elections. But again it will create counting controversy. Candidates if not pleased will ask for Paper Counting. This will create another headache for EC. Then it will be upto EC to accept that Candidate's plea for recounting. Again a big saga of recounting and a boon for Media.

Given the opportynity. Everything can be hacked. And we almost know everything about EVM. That makes it more vulnerable. Hacking cannot be ignored. It is always possible. What matters is time required to do so. We at it industry just make it harder to hack.. so that time required to hack a unit is so long that we are able to know before the hacking is complete. It can take a high end machine upto more than a year to crack open a encryption... but its always possible... The more proccessing power you have . The more easier it is to jailbreak. Depends how much money you have... its is very possible for enterprises and governmets to achieve it. Provided its worth a while.. Trust me .. its costs a lot of money.. ALOT..

I personally worked as a presiding officer in election. Being an electronic engineer, even I was curious about such thing. But after performing duty in election, I would say it is nearly impossible to 'mass-hack' evms. Video is just perfect to explain the fact.

my phone is normal keypad type and does not have any internet facility, but it always shows my IMEI number whenever i press a combination of *#06#. some code is already present on it which brings this result always. why an EVM can not show such desired results if some particular fixed code sequence is entered. well it also shows different results when i enter some different combinations on my phone.....think again....

One correction bro, Hari Prasad never did the so called "" chori "" nor he run away. All time he was in India. Yes he used a look like EVM to demonstrate and for that he was harassed a lot. Like any programmable chip EVM can also be reprogrammed anytime just you should know the driver or core program.

Who said, the EC did not invite industry experts? EC upheld an open challenge to anyone to come and hack the machine in front of them. Our machines are so made, it is impossible to hack. It may malfunction at any point of time like any other electronic device, but otherwise, it is impossible.
