Why water can pass through the filter? Is there are pressure to push water trough it?

Actually the blue color you see there is not water, it is gas pressure which pushes the unfiltered liquid back to the feed tank

Hi, I've seen in some industries that they create a kind of slurry and then they added to the filter. Why do they do it?
