Doesn't matter how much experience one has as a distance marksman, the more we learn the better we drop targets. Thus, thanks for the video.

Thanks for your insights into the PRS world Phil with showing us body manipulation and body management. I use your tips in shooting a type of F class using a hunting bipod and 1kg squeeze bag. They are very helpful thank. Andy 🇦🇺

Really helpful content! Gutted I missed the MDS sessions you ran in the UK 🇬🇧 One of the main reasons I record and post videos at matches is A. I get to watch frame by frame when editing and pick out issues. B. Others can give feedback that I can work on.

LR shooter here dating back 30 years. One thing I learned from Pat Kelly in 3-Gun that might help is to bowl with your reticle into the TGT from 7 o'clock, vs casting the reticle down onto the TGT. We know from alternate positions there's going to be wobble, so you can settle into the bag while approaching from 7 o'clock and have a more confident feel as you break the shot along the approach. You have to be very familiar with your trigger to do it consistently. When I started using that technique, my off-hand and positional shooting hit probability increased noticeably.

Phil, what is your thoughts on cheek pressure? More commonly now you see guys going with lower cheek pieces or higher scope mounts to aid in less cheek pressure. I am a recent convert to this method after experimenting at the range. I use the MDT ACC Elite and I swapped to a lower cheek piece. After shooting several shot alternating cheek pieces I noticed having the lower cheek piece reduced my recoil(muzzle flip) off a prop at 100 yards to .5 mils vs 1.5 - 2 mils with the large cheek piece. Granted this changes depending on the stability of the prop but overall shooting groups at 100 and shooting matches ive noticed I am able to spot alot more shots with the lower cheek piece as well as decrease the sizes of my groups. I still have a consistent index point to the rifle but it is now closer to my chin vs burred under my cheek bone. A position in matches ive noticed the largest improvement with this method is the very low double knee positions (bottom of staircase, etc.) where typically I might throw a round high over the target, I now tend to notice more impacts in that position. I know your slogan is "keep your face on the gun" just curious on your thoughts after seeing Williams first shot have a large amount of muzzle flip in the video.

Great question. I cover this in the recent Best of The West where they had me as a guest instructor. Check out episode 2 where we talk fundamentals. In short, I’ve gravitated to what I call a Jaw Weld and use it as a reference point instead of resting point like a cheek weld. But have found similar results that you’ve described with regards to my wobble zone.

Touching the scope.. agreed. I see multi thousand dollar optics being used as carry handles. Then hear angry sergeant shouts.
