I have a question. Is it better to adjust the sound to some extent with EQ before starting the mixing process, or to not apply any effects or anything before starting the mixing process?

1st option, as it’s part of the production process. If that feels finished, commit and take it from there over the finish line. However, things are personal, so always do what feels best to you.

Bro, I have a question, when you talk about listening to the area that I want to adjust, do you mean to solo the sound, adjust that area in the eq to see if I get the result I want, and then listen to it together with the whole track?

Yes. So you could listen to only a specific area in a sound while on the other hand it’s great to do this on your entire master too if you want to closely monitor a specific area. In the end focus on making sure your decisions are intentional.
