One thing I learned is on the check ride we're all under the impression we can't use any material for the fundamentals of instruction. This is a false understanding and as long as it is an FAA publication then you can open it and use it as a guide during your check ride. It states everywhere you can use all available resources but no where does it say you can't use resources for the fundamentals part. If an examiner tells you that you can't use it then carefully ask them where it states you can't. Study study study and best of luck to all who are prepping for their CFI ride. Also I did my CFI training with Russ and you're in great hands and will learn a lot from him.

How about the Law of Decrepitude? That's about where I am now. I'm almost 67 years old, been flying 53 years, retired airline, now flying corporate, and am attempting to add a M.E.I. rating to my 41-year-old (barely used in thirty years) CFII. I must have been out of my mind when I had this fantasy...

Hang in there, I know it’s tough for us older guys to retain all this info but it’s doable. I have faith you will complete the MEI with flying colors!

FYI, the Practical Guide is out of stock at ASA and Amazon says it’s out of print.

Yes I recently became aware, what a shame such an excellent study guide, I have reached out to ASA they “claim” an update is in the works
