Funeral for NYPD Officer Jason Rivera

Fallen Police Officer Jason Rivera of the NYPD was laid to rest Friday morning. A funeral mass was held at St. Patrick's Cathedral where hundreds of law enforcement have converged along with family, friends, and the general public to pay their final respects.
Rivera and his partner, Detective Wilbert Mora, were fatally shot when they responded to a mother's call for help with her adult son in Harlem.

Watching from the high plains of West Texas I am weeping openly for a man I never met, who served a city I have never visited. I am moved to my core hearing the mayor speak, Jason's brother reflect on his life, and especially Jason's wife sharing her trauma and heartbreak. Jason Rivera gave his life as a hero and martyr for the city he loved. With his death, I pray those who love law and order will rise up and make the changes that have to be made to secure and make safe once again one of the greatest cities on the face of the earth.
