Damian Grimes was born on June 11, 1931, in Wakefield, England, and pursued a calling to the priesthood with the Mill Hill Missionaries. He studied in England and Holland, taking his Perpetual Oath in 1954 and being ordained a priest in 1955. After further studies in history and education, Damian was appointed to Uganda in 1959, where he dedicated over 30 years as Headmaster of Kamuli College, Namasagali, despite the challenges of the Amin regime. His efforts greatly impacted education in Uganda, leading to his recognition with an MBE. After retiring from Uganda in 2003, Damian served in Wales before ill health led him to retire in Liverpool in 2016. He passed away on September 4, 2024, after 70 years of service.
