Funeral service for US airman from Atlanta shot and killed by Florida deputy

A funeral is planned to take place on Friday after an Atlanta airman was shot to death a Florida deputy earlier in May. The funeral is expected to take place at New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta starting at 11 a.m.
This comes just a day after Civil rights and personal injury attorney Ben Crump and the family revealed new details relating to the incident that left US Airman Roger Fortson dead.
Some of those details include Crump highlighting discrepancies in the sheriff's office narrative about the disturbance at Fortson's apartment, along with Body-camera audio showing the woman who called the deputy unsure where the disturbance was coming from. More: www.11alive.com/article/news/...

As a fellow veteran, I am deeply saddened and troubled to hear about the senseless killing of Senior Airman Roger Fortson by police in Florida. Airman Fortson bravely served our country, only to lose his life needlessly to police violence here at home. It fills me with grief to see yet another Black servicemember, who dedicated his life to our nation, die in this way. Incidents like this are a sobering reminder that even those who wear the uniform are not immune to the systemic racism and injustice that continues to plague policing in America. It shows how far we still have to go to root out bias and brutality in law enforcement, and to ensure that every person, regardless of the color of their skin, can expect fair treatment and due process. My heart goes out to Airman Fortson's family, friends and fellow Airmen as they cope with this devastating loss. I stand with them in mourning and in the continued call for meaningful reform, increased accountability, and justice. Senior Airman Fortson's service and sacrifice will not be forgotten. We must honor his memory by working to build a society where tragedies like this no longer occur, and where every person's life, dignity and humanity is equally valued and protected.

He shot Roger six times for a supposed disturbance. Please make that sink in. I have seen white men get confronted by cops whilst armed and they deescalate. You can’t come to somebody’s door listen hear nothing no disturbance, knock , delay identification of yourself as a cop and then step to the side so the person can’t see then shoot them six times.
