// Early Life & Education // Richard Kipkoech Cheruiyot was born on February 26, 1947, in Koptebon village, Lalagin, Litein, as the ninth child of Jonah and Eunice Misoi. He attended Litein Primary, Cheptienye Secondary, Kenyatta College, Makerere University, Saint Louis University (USA), and Guelph University (Canada), where he earned degrees in social work and project management. // Marriage & Family // In 1973, he married Lillian Chelangat Cheruiyot, and they were blessed with five children and several grandchildren. Richard was a devoted husband, father, and mentor who deeply valued family and community. // Christian Life // He was raised in a religious home, was baptized in 1978, and reaffirmed his faith in 2024. His commitment to Christianity was evident in his support for church construction and his unwavering belief in the goodness of people. // Professional Life // Richard dedicated his career to civil service, starting as a District Development Officer in various regions and later serving as the Provincial Director of Social Services for the Coast Province. He advanced to Assistant Senior Commissioner and eventually Deputy Commissioner for Social Services. He also worked as a lecturer at the Kenya Institute of Administration and served as a master of ceremonies for presidential events. // Health & Passing // Diagnosed with diabetes in 2002, he managed the condition for years but faced complications that led to his passing on January 25, 2025. // Legacy & Tributes // His family, friends, and colleagues remember him as a caring, humorous, and generous individual who left a profound impact on their lives. His funeral was marked by heartfelt prayers, hymns, and tributes, as loved ones honoured his remarkable life and contributions, believing he now rests in eternal peace.
