I was moved about the children sending Charlie Brown their candy. Children truly are a marvel. I watch The Great Pumpkin every year. Halloween wouldn't be the same without it.

Lucy wasn't the first character to prevent Charlie Brown from kicking the football. The first time this gag was shown was in a November 14, 1951 Peanuts comic strip where Violet, balancing a football for Charlie Brown to kick, feared he would kick her hand. She cowered at his approach causing the football to tip over and allow Charlie Brown to spectacularly miss the football. The first time Lucy pulled the football was in a Sunday, November 16, 1952 strip (when Lucy was a lot more innocent). At first, Lucy pulls the football away from Charlie Brown because she didn't want 'anyone with dirty shoes kicking my new football'. Charlie Brown scolds her saying 'Don't ever do that again! [Little did he know!] ...This time hold it tight!' With one finger, Lucy balances the ball so tightly that Charlie Brown trips over it. The one time Charlie Brown comes close to kicking the football is in a August 2, 1979 Peanuts strip. Earlier, Charlie Brown is ill in the hospital and Linus learns that Lucy promised to hold the football, if he returns home. After returning home, Charlie Brown is excited to learn of this promise but while attempting to kick the football, misses it and kicks Lucy's hand and finger instead (almost fulfilling Violet's original fear in 1951). The next strip has Charlie Brown asking Lucy if there is anything he can do to make up for his error, to which Lucy (in a cast) replies 'Next time you go to the hospital, stay there!'. In February, 2000, after finishing the final Peanuts strip, Charles Schulz was saddened to realize that Charlie Brown never did kick the football, but stated it would have been some kind of disservice to the character if he ultimately succeeded.

Timeless TV greatness. Although what kind of demented adults would give poor Charlie Brown rocks? Actually, I'm surprised that, even though there is such a thing as rock candy (which you don't see much of anymore), nobody's ever manufactured Charlie Brown candy "rocks" to give to trick-or-treaters. Maybe Schulz refused to license it, as he did a Charlie Brown baseball glove ("Nobody would be able to catch a ball with it").

I love your videos!! I honestly don’t understand why they don’t get more views. One suggestion though: I don’t think you should put the number of facts in the title of the video, because if you are only doing 8 or 7 or less facts in a video that might make people lose interest. But keep it up
@FunFactFilms5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback Purple. So what number provides interest to you?

Fun Fact Films I know this might sound like a lot, but 15 or more provides interest for me. You don’t have to listen to me though, because other people might still have interest in your video with a number less than that.
