I'm almost sure people have done far more offensive things than skateboard on it. Also, he has a huge ass monument built for him while the slaves and others that died trying to abolish slavery have absolutely nothing in their memory, not even a mention in a U.S. History class. I think everyone's patriotism will survive a penny board.

But a congressman from Kentucky thought people would confuse the name with the "District of Columbia" so he vetoed the name "Columbia." Which totally not confusing name with DC did congress pick? FYI, It is illegal to ride skateboards in the Washington D.C. Memorials, so they were lucky they did not get in trouble. Section 2.20 Roller Skating Rollerblading, skateboarding, bicycling and similar activities are limited to the roadways and sidewalks outside the memorials.

Hi Louis! I am from Washington, DC. And let me tell you, going at one o'clock in the morning is probably one of the best decisions your going to make on this trip. You didn't have to pay to get in anywhere, there was no traffic, no tourist, no nothing. You practically had the mall to yourselves! You are very lucky! I have an idea for part of your american adventure if you plan on coming back this way: You NEED to hike the Blue Ridge/ Appalachian Mountains. The view is one of the best in America. If you enjoyed the train ride, you will more than likely DIE over the view from the top of the mountains. Safe travels!
