Andrea Moriarty when you blow out, you have what is called Dead Space, in which no gas exchange takes place. Basically if you take in a full breath, probably 40-50% is the same air you breathed in except with extra heat and moisture. the rest has come in contact with some kind of gas exchange in your lungs. that's why giving breaths during CPR still kind of helps. the middle to end of your breath is the part that has low O2 and more CO2 But more importantly, its not the air you are breathing out. Its the air that you are pushing with the force of your breath that counts. That air still has its oxygen content.

Louis, PLEASE take it to a mechanic ASAP. Could have been a failed FUEL LINE, or now the fire has caused damage to electrical wires ( you could have wires with burnt insulation that is just waiting to cause a short circuit, or you could have fuel or oil or coolant lines that are damaged, and need to be replaced. Thank god Alex? pulled into a restaurant parking lot and had the presence of mine to go inside and grab one of their fire extinguishers!! Now you know that you should carry two of your own fire extinguishers on the van because YES, without that dry chemical extinguisher, the van WAS going up in flames. - === So glad to see the VAGA BROTHERS along for the trip. Their experience in travellling, vlogging, photographing etc should make this trip exceptional, especially since they know the area. I'm late to the vlogs, so I need to check out who the Aussies are. Hello to Raya, lovely as always, and glad to see Jesse and David in the crew. Was that Jesse's gyro flying at that amazing cliff, with waterfall, squirrels and crash sea on the coast. BE SAFE GUYS and TAKE PRECAUTIONS WITH THE WONDERBUG> She ain't fresh from the showroom, and is going to need tender loving care !!

he should look into a product called BLAZECUT fire suppression system its make specifically for situations like this. On another note I really hope they payed the restaurant they took the fire extinguisher from as they are not cheap.

That would be a good idea what you said about getting it checked out, something caused the fire and it could happen again, driving along at speed would have fanned the flames. I would imagine all that powder from the extinguisher wouldnt do the motor any good either.

Deathtrap! Please have the car checked out. Engine does NOT catch fire like that from overheating. Exposed electrics + gas fumes or oil = fire. Until this is fixed / the WonderBug is a Russian roulette. :( Seriously hope someone checks on them before someone gets hurt.

I rebuilt my 1972? VW engine 3 times before I totaled the bug. It's a very easy engine to work on and will run on just one cylinder (the number 1 cylinder). My bug the Servo-Automatic, didn't have a clutch but had a switch in the gear shift that used a Servo to work the clutch. I hated it. Most of the time I had to park it on a hill to get it in gear from a dead stop. I believe the shop I got my parts from was in Pompano, Florida. It's been a long time ago.

+FunForLouis , (VW VANS AND FIRE) I know your vlog is delayed like 2 or 3 days but anyway, I will try to suggest you before the entire van gets on fire. As your friend told you (in this vlog) he has been driving VW Vanagons (which is the following model to the one you have one) all of them (petrol ones) suffer from fires. There is mainly a reason for that. Petrol hoses usually get dried and then crack, so the petrol inside get out and then engine being so hot (that car has no radiator, so no coolant, is aircooled) gets fire. The solution should be to change all the hoses from the petrol tank to the engine and now check all the electrical wires, because they are burnt and can cause electrical problems (and also a fire too). Hope you read this before it is too late. Also always take a fire extinguisher in the car, a huge one. I do have 2 in my VW Campervan.

i think you should take the van for an inspection just to make sure everythings is all good a big thing with volkswagon is engine is small and does not have a radiator like normal cars so the possibility of over heating the engine is a common just have to make sure to keep engine cool all coming from a volkswagon owner i personally have a 1974 vw beetle and know that the engines can get over heated easily and weight plays a big factor into that and i see you have a good bit of people in it and its caring things so just take it slow and make stops every little while to keep the engine cool also do recommend getting a look at the engine by professionals to get fluids changed especially the engine liquids

I was in LA a couple years ago and road tripped up to San Fran, we stopped at Big Sur and at that waterfall I saw some whales. There was also some people climbing down the cliff and onto the beach. Super dangerous lol. Good times.

Not sure where you guys will be in in the next couple of days, but I live in Oregon and the coast 101 hwy runs through my state. Newport, Oregon has a great 4th of July firework show off of the bay where the boats light off fireworks. May be worth a shot to stop there!
