I’m an NP, planning on getting my DNP in the future and I have no intention of introducing myself as Dr. I didn’t go to medical school. Simple as that. And the way NP education is now, it’s not terribly difficult to get through the online program, which is scary and dangerous. Also, it degrades the NP’s who worked their butts off when the program was all in person. I am not a doctor. If I wanted to be a doctor, I would have gone to medical school. I’m here as an adjunct to the physician.

They can call themselves doctor already, just not in patient care setting where the word doctor doesn't mean PhD. It's about not deceiving patients, not free speech. They can say they have PhD s to their hearts' content.

A doctorate is an educational indication and title, not a profession! It has never been intended to be an indicator of professional title or job type!
