That is true, but most lenses have cylindrical elements that impose mechanical aligment, so you're safe for 99% of the cases.

Hello, I replaced it (I found one with broken autofocus). Separating them is very difficult since you need before to remove (=destroy) the plastic part in which they are mounted. Then, you can heat the lenses at about 80°C until the glue melts, clean them, then reglue them again (with canada Balsam). You need to be careful with the centering then.

Mine got cleaned by a camera technician , The small lens at the back / E-mount aread after that it got a little blurry , and difficult to focus even AF is struggling

Its really sad to realize that there is something wrong with my camera i swear it lose around 15% sharpness , im compairing it to my old shots versus recent ones im still asking for help on facebook camera group , hoping i get the answer that i need After that gonna invest in new lens and be very careful next time with my future lenses

@@DarwinArcillas in my opinion the lens was reassembled poorly. Another option is that one of the washers that ensures proper distance between lens and sensor was forgotten during reassembly.

Hi DIY, thanks for showing. about the rear optical small assembly (with 3 screws), in the Nikon 18-200 manual, it says do not remove, or you need optical alignment. Wonder if that applies to this Tamron too?

Honestly I don't know, if there is a mating cylinder, I'd say you don't need to worry, if contact surfaces are flat, you'll need to do some alignment.

I think it means that the lenses will get misaligned causing optical aberrations and decentering.
