It's a subtle jab at the fact that the guy who couldn't figure out how to buy property ultimately became the president. Every purchase he made devalued severely while it was in his possession. Not to mention all those times he tried to sue people into selling him property, and ended up losing. And yet somehow he had been chosen to lead the rest of us through the capitalist crisis.
