What's great about this MC is that his OP is actually understandable and not impossible, from basically birth he's been trained by the best in magic, magic gear, and fighting and magic in his new world relies mostly on visualization where he's last life experience in making science books for kids comes in handy because he can visualize things differently than everyone else making his magic very powerful, later on we see his grandpa and friends also being able to use his magic and grow closer to his level.

He also starts very overpowered because the world he is born in to does the whole 'chant' system, which the MC LOAAAATHES hardcore. So he develops a full silent system of casting, which he loves, and even goes on to explain further in episode two about 'visualization' and 'controlled visualization' techniques and stuff he does in order to produce powerful spells quickly. And on top of what you said, in that he can think about things in a very different manner than the people living in the world, so he can visual things in such a profound manner to produce great effects. And he teaches that to the entire main cast.

He's not OP though, he literally learned to fight while growing up. OP usually starts out strong for no apparent reason or since plot device. Shin was taught magic by both Sages and the sword Saint. Other than his otherworld memories which he used to utilize magic to it's fullest potential by combining it with science. Even then he's as strong as that one Devils leader Stromme. Only thing making him strong is knowledge and application.

It was funny how the wish to make my abilities average was misinterpreted to be the average of the strongest beings. my second ever isekai and my third ever anime. I literally decrypted the magic language shown in the anime. Those little symbols on the magic circles and on the various sign's of this world actually are consistent with each other, and when I decrypted them, I found that they actually spelled cohesive words!

@@2e1ewwolf57 Well I realized that the sign on the door in episode 2 had characters on it and the caption above said dressing room(that was a mistranslation, it actually says guest room) and I used a school card later that episode to fill in more blanks. Something interesting is that the person who wrote it definitely spoke English, as the language had 26 distinct letters, and one word was spelled with multiple letters, rather than one character.

This is a C level anime but tbh I think it’s my favorite thing about it. It’s a very standard cookie cutter anime but it’s got just enough character development humor and some great artwork that’s is a perfect chill n half watch half play on your phone anime to watch n relax so I’m definitely a fan hoping for a season 2. Not every anime needs to be original/ new concept draw dropping to be a great watch & this anime proves that. 😊 definitely worth a watch

I really enjoy this series, both in anime and manga format, despite it being yet another "adult working-class human gets transported into another world" sort of isekai; the usual tropes are somewhat averted. The lack of knowledge about common sense and customs in the new world that most isekai protagonists have can be most easily explained by him living with his grandfather, who's leading a relatively carefree and peaceful life in the countryside. The same can be applied to the trope of bearing knowledge beyond his age, as it is somewhat obvious, with Shin being the grandson of a national hero and all, that Merlin taught him magic of high caliber - including wordless casting. He just had to apply the concept of visualization, and that's all there is to it. Man, I do hope he never gets angry! Wouldn't that be terrifying? :D

Personally i think all isekai with the premise of being reincarnated as a baby...are not isekai s but rather regular fantasy. You could explain shin as a highly inquisitive mage with great tutors and having all the empty space to experiment.

@@spencervance8484 I can see where you're coming from, but I just don't agree. By that logic, the Grandfather of Isekai, Mushoku Tensei, isn't an Isekai. A bunch of the better Isekai have a main character born into a body or form not their own originally, like Ascendance of a Bookworm, or That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, or Mushoku Tensei can you tell I like Mushoku Tensei? It's a really good series and it's basically this show but better in every single way possible objectively speaking.
