I've been a pro musician for 40 years. I never stop learning and never stop researching music. These are some of the best lessons I've ever seen. Its SO OBVIOUS that the best way to teach and learn is to actually DO the thing you are learning in real time as the teacher does it with you explains it in real time, yet for some odd reason, you are the first I've ever seen teach this way. It's a slap yourself in the forehead moment for me because Of COURSE this is the best way to learn, but I've never seen anyone do it quite like this. I'm super impressed with this method and offer you huge thanks for sharing this with us. Thank you, you are awesome!

Oh thanks I really appreciate that! I felt the same way when I watched a guitar lesson on funk - Paul Davids kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3W1ZWCpfr2ihqcsi=KJLnyvx4Vyy9q_gG - this was great and really resonated with me and has inspired me to do this format - I hope to see others adopt it to :) Cheers!

I remember while preparing while ago, aka 10 or 12 years ago, for light music, conservatorium music school, so many theories, I tried to learned them all and understood in theorie but it was a lot! Then after decide to have other profession as musician, but don't stop make music with others in bands and pop/rock/big-band orchestra's... All the theorie fall at place and it's so. Logic, and easy.... No difficult theories, just understand the scales, and understand what the music tries to do. Meanwhile, understanding, and play same groove as this teacher - understanding is the beginning, then practice, but especially listen to the music you want to make and love it!. Have to say Funk & groove has been my signature last years, but in the more complex music like be-bob jazz, need to practice to not only be able to join the jam, but wow the others. It's with all I guess. Also music, once you've reached it you see what's behind, never ending. Great tutorial. Glad I'm now understanding what he's saying, so it give me practical practice tips to extend what i'm already doing. 12/10 year's ago it was a longer run)

Cheers, I appreciate that :) For me it's all about keeping it simple and in the feel, and just gradually building up the techniques into the toolbox so they can be used on other songs! As long as you are playing in the pocket it will all fall in place :) have fun!

A bit hard to get bassline (left hand pattern)
@pianoproductivitypeace
@pianoproductivitypeace 2 ай бұрын
Yes fair call, left hand lines and hand independence is tricky. My thoughts are if you are working with a band, focus on the right hand with the left hand just providing root at the start of the bar and ghost notes. Build the lead in notes as you get more comfortable, but the right hand is the priority. If you are working in a situation where you are holding the bass line down, write a line and practice and don't be afraid of repetition and you can build in subtle variation. In these cases my priority is the left hand and do what you can with the right hand (sometimes I'll just hold chords down sustained and let the guitar do the rhythmic chopping) - good luck and happy practicing!
@kurt1391
@kurt1391 2 ай бұрын
The right-hand part is tough too, as it requires the fingers to stay at the pivot end of the keys and uses the pinky heavily. I guess that is good for ensuring the basics are solid (loose tendons, proper curve in the fingers). It still hurts. :)
