I saw Suicidal Tendencies and Infectious Grooves at Avalon in Boston around 1990. One of the best shows I ever went to.

I get the funk part however the metal element? More like punk. Remember, Suicidal was originally a punk band. Later on their sound definitely evolved to include other elements. And the Bad Brains a funk metal band? Please! They were / are a hardcore punk band from D.C. They started as Rastafarian, jazz fusionists who got exposed to the D.C. hardcore scene.

Adam Siegel was from local Venice band Excel. He also provided the artwork for the IG records. Dean Pleasants was a guitarist with Ugly Kid Joe around the same time as this album before joining ST in the late 90's. But, no, neither was in Jane's Addiction.

Bad brains started in 1979. Not really funk metal. Faith no More is closer to fm. All kick ass stuff.
