Once I was able to get over the cut “Maggot Brain” I discovered a few gems on this early Funkadelic album. By the way….. “Maggot Brain” is one of the greatest guitar songs ever by the late great Eddie Hazel and should definitely be given a reaction!!

I freaked the hell out when I first heard it back in 1971....Scared Straight because it blew my mind.

La n Che !!! Muchissimas Gracias from Ned in Spain for playing this tune from the classic Maggot Brain. The LP was from when these swampy funk beasts would mix all of their sounds of Gospel, Blues, Funk and searing Acid rock. For me the title track, Super Stupid, Hit and Quit It are my faves but it's all amazing. The 2 earlier LP's, S/T and Free Your Mind are also brutal and beautiful as is the 1st Parliament "Osmium" later re released as " Rhenium" with added songs. More fellas please !!!!

All Funkadelic is a must. I stay away from Parlaiment unless you are referring to the Parlaiment's which pre-dated Funkadelic. Anything Funkadelic on Westbound is where it's at.

The Parliaments was originally a doo-wop group, which you can totally hear, here. This album is so great and so diverse.... check out the track "Super Stupid' for some incredible hard electric guitar by Mr. Hazel, really fusing funk and metal SO long before anyone thought in those terms at all!

The first 5 Funkadelic albums are nothing like Parliament. You might want to avoid reactiong to the first one. Its too sloppy. This one, and America Eats its Young, and Standing On The Verge are classics.
