Man I hear your pain. But.... If I buy a fish (with or without proper images or knowledge about their health) I will keep em. I will treat em soo good that they will in return loook sexy as fuck! It works no matter how bad the fish are. If I bring em home. They are here to stay. Kinda sad you are giving up on them cuz they are not up to your quality standards.

Kinda late viewing this, but couldn't believe how many viewers gave it a thumbs down. The Tropheus I have seen are, like a lot of fish, nicer looking though not always as colorful when young. Fighting takes a toll on them. Maybe they were overpriced. Our local store sells 1/2 inch fish for $30 dollars. So maybe they weren't. Also, when large only the dominant male is going to really color nicely. I agree with those that said this lady was very generous in making it up to you. She is to be applauded for her understanding of possibly your very high expectations.

I don't think you should have returned the fish to her. She obviously didn't know how to care for them. What you should have done was had her return your money, given her back $20-$30 and kept the fish. Then tell her that returning the fish to her was most likely a death sentence for them and you would rehabilitate them, get them healthy again and give them a good home. If none of them died, you could return another small sum of money back to her but your time was worth money too and caring for sick fish takes money too. I know it's too late now. I hope those fish found a new home and weren't just flushed or worse......released into a local lake or pond.
@vincevengeance97557 жыл бұрын
no he doesn't has love for them. all he want is to get his money returned and buy another new batch of beautiful fish. probably for display tank, for other people to come and praise his beautiful fish. some people they keep animals because they want to watch it and let other to praise about it. some people keep animals because they love that animal. these people they care more on the love parts of the animals, and not for display. so you will see some people they love to keep so many juvenile fishes and cull the ugly one when they realize it, so that he can have beautiful fishes which make him proud. then you will see some people they keep some ugly fishes and some beautiful fishes and when you ask them, "why you keep those ugly fishes?" you will most probably start to hear them talking about the story of these fish, how he rescue them, how he felt pity for them when they are abused by the previous owners and so on. so there are always these 2 type of fish keepers. one for the display and proud. one for the love of that fish (like dogs and cats).
@etm33987 жыл бұрын
who in this world wants to keep ugly fish?
@chickenstrangler38267 жыл бұрын
They're millions of fish, why keep ugly ones? There are 3-4 million dogs euthanized each year so should you give the sick ones a home or the healthy ones a home? Obviously the healthy ones should live and, unfortunately, the sick ones will be euthanized.

@AquaticLogic8 жыл бұрын
I suspected that these fish had poor genetics, and the phenotype with the orange band was not going to manifest even if the fish were healthy. As for the rocks, I do double styrofoam. I support the bottom of the tank with it, and I also add some inside the tank on the bottom. It spreads out the load on the glass, and prevents any form of deflective load, which makes it safe. The sand also buffers out the dynamic load if I accidentally drop one.

@Melleefrase7 жыл бұрын
From your video they don't look any different. I checked twice but I can't see any difference. If a fish has an eye problem maybe that's not so good but it seems to be swimming well. To be honest I cant do much to delineate what happened after our reverse transaction. I really don't think you know a lot about tropheus honestly but I have a few things I want to point out to you. If you keep all red Bemba tropheus then maybe you will see that vibrant red color more often. That red color does not stay with the fish as you would see with the duboisi head turn blue, it's not the same phenomenon. I recommend making it a species only tropheus tank. I had demasoni once in with my tropheus and it was overall a bad idea. Demasoni aren't even from Lake Tanganyika. Second I can safely say you got a stellar deal for that many tropheus! Full grown tropheus would run you around $50 a pop in my area and that's on the cheap end. Third you may not even have the right food for them. Not all spiralina flakes are made the same. Look for some that have paprika and garlic in it. They love to munch on big wet flakes from what I can tell. I suggest getting yours some Dainichi veggie deluxe pellets and veggie fx pellets. It's better than new life spectrum and helps flush out toxin from their long intestines. Hope your tropheus are doing better now. Best of luck!
@AquaticLogic7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. These fish are the Orange phenotype of the Bembas, not the red. That goes to show how poor their genetics were. Secondly, I kept a huge colony cohabitating with demasoni with both sets of Tropheus and they got along just fine. I did not observe a single conflict between the two. I did end up selling off all the demasoni to help pay for my Saulosi. Prices for fish can be highly variable, and it can vary depending on location and availability. Prescribing a price is really problematic. Lastly how does Dainichi “flush out toxins”? I’d love to know. Thanks

You should dedicate your tank to either Tanganyika or Malawi lake species. Hey man those are cichlids... Give it two years and all of yours will start to look banged up as this is survival of the fittest. Go to and aquarium or zoo and check out the hippos/African penguins/fish from Africa and their cichlids have a more massive tank and much more room per capita. They are not a schooling fish at all and do not need to be with that many at close quarters. The only way to avoid your next problem as they are still small fish is create as many hiding places as possible and increase that live plant growth by fertilizing them with the fish waste/detritus material. It will just be war all the time. Changing rock placement frequently will make them change territories as well and can be beneficial. Get ready for natural selection in this fish tank, but get more rock/driftwood! I have made every mistake having tanks over the last 10 years and can give honest advice if you need. You’re doing great with the diet of them and I can tell that you honestly care about the fish with the passion I did when I first started out! Good luck & Hope this helps!

I wish you could post an update on your fish..I notice that this is 2016..I am very interested to know how they are doing now.

They act so aggressive towards one another. How large do they get? Also, the tank looks over stocked. I'm glad you got your money back. Maybe you can buy fewer fish and better quality. Good Luck.

The seller was greedy but I think she did expect some bargaining. With fishes at this age and size. Expensive medications are definitely needed for this huge stock in treating parasite and bacterial infections. I wouldn't take it for over 50 bucks.

You really should keep them 2 more weeks. I get that u were screwed in the fish condition, but u should have kept the fish a little bit longer or give them to another fish hobbyist who can care for them instead of giving them back to her.

Unfortunately yeah they had to. I could not verify their genetics, and I could not handle the possibility that these fish could make it genetically impossible to look beautiful. I have to problem with (and actually enjoy) rehabilitating fish, these ones seems too high risk for me, especially because I have never kept Tanganyikans before.
