When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade, or in this case liquid KZbin videos. Hopefully you can learn from my mistakes, and vet your potential purchases better. I did get a full refund, and she re-sold the fish at a much more appropriate price.
I bought the new and improved fish from here! www.cichlaholic...

Kinda late viewing this, but couldn't believe how many viewers gave it a thumbs down. The Tropheus I have seen are, like a lot of fish, nicer looking though not always as colorful when young. Fighting takes a toll on them. Maybe they were overpriced. Our local store sells 1/2 inch fish for $30 dollars. So maybe they weren't. Also, when large only the dominant male is going to really color nicely. I agree with those that said this lady was very generous in making it up to you. She is to be applauded for her understanding of possibly your very high expectations.

Man I hear your pain. But.... If I buy a fish (with or without proper images or knowledge about their health) I will keep em. I will treat em soo good that they will in return loook sexy as fuck! It works no matter how bad the fish are. If I bring em home. They are here to stay. Kinda sad you are giving up on them cuz they are not up to your quality standards.

people in the comment section really need to calm down... especially the ones that dont know shit about the hobby. when its about fish its all about the looks. you dont go to the pet store and pick out fish that you feel bad for or need to be rescued. you pick out fish that you like to look at. fish are very expensive pets so when you pay a x amount of money for a fish you want what you pay for. maybe he did not discard the fish properly but its understandable.

I would just make her return a bit of the money because the fish werent' up to quality. The fish would heal as much as they can and color up, and fatten up over time and with good care. I would just see it as good I could save those fishes atleast. But yeah we all want different things, I think you were to hard on the fish though.

unless you are specifically trying to breed these fish and sell them to people who are going to judge them for their appearance and make a purchase accordingly, why not keep the fish and just nurse them back to health? even the healthy fish of this species aren't really all that pretty. but what does it matter? I have six little corydoras and they are not the prettiest fish but they have lovely personalities and I enjoy watching them socialize with each other

Wow so disappointed, you rescued several animals, showed them how great life could be then dumped them because they were not pretty enough, how sad for the fish. My fish are my pets and no less so then my dog. They aren't trophies to be put on a shelf they are pets to be cared for. For a brief moment those fish had what seemed to be one the best people on the planet to care for them and now what? wonder how many of those are even alive now...

I don't think you should have returned the fish to her. She obviously didn't know how to care for them. What you should have done was had her return your money, given her back $20-$30 and kept the fish. Then tell her that returning the fish to her was most likely a death sentence for them and you would rehabilitate them, get them healthy again and give them a good home. If none of them died, you could return another small sum of money back to her but your time was worth money too and caring for sick fish takes money too. I know it's too late now. I hope those fish found a new home and weren't just flushed or worse......released into a local lake or pond.

no he doesn't has love for them. all he want is to get his money returned and buy another new batch of beautiful fish. probably for display tank, for other people to come and praise his beautiful fish. some people they keep animals because they want to watch it and let other to praise about it. some people keep animals because they love that animal. these people they care more on the love parts of the animals, and not for display. so you will see some people they love to keep so many juvenile fishes and cull the ugly one when they realize it, so that he can have beautiful fishes which make him proud. then you will see some people they keep some ugly fishes and some beautiful fishes and when you ask them, "why you keep those ugly fishes?" you will most probably start to hear them talking about the story of these fish, how he rescue them, how he felt pity for them when they are abused by the previous owners and so on. so there are always these 2 type of fish keepers. one for the display and proud. one for the love of that fish (like dogs and cats).

They're millions of fish, why keep ugly ones? There are 3-4 million dogs euthanized each year so should you give the sick ones a home or the healthy ones a home? Obviously the healthy ones should live and, unfortunately, the sick ones will be euthanized.

Contact the guy's in Lad Vegas that custom build tank's for a living. Brett, his brother - in-law, + family on cable t.v.'s ,"Tanked." They deal with what you had happen. NEVER STOP ASKING QUESTION's ! Don't get too disgusted with yourself. Edison finally invented a light bulb that worked. He made around 1,000 mistakes. He found 1,000 way's that don't work. Of coarse you gotta find the cheapest right thing's to do to have fish or whatever. Don't give up because of your mistake. You're human. No offense intented. Lesson learned. Like buying tobacco pipes or whatever on Amazon + eBay. Check stuff out 1st with question's, question's, question's. Pray about it too for the wise choices. I'm always curious about what happens after the video. Under the comment section, I read that she took everything back and you got a full refund. But what was the whole story behind it and after it? She wanted to get out of the aquarium hobby and that's why she sold them, or something else? Did she refill her tank and simply kept all the fishes? etc. etc.
@AquaticLogic
@AquaticLogic 8 жыл бұрын
To be honest I cant do much to delineate what happened after our reverse transaction. She took the fish, I got my $300 back, and I have not seen them re-posted for sale on the aquarium forum that we are both members of. She is still in the hobby with many, many, many tanks, but my suspicion is that she is having a hard time selling things now because word got out (to some extent) about what happened... And some of my friends watch my KZbin channel ;-)

From your video they don't look any different. I checked twice but I can't see any difference. If a fish has an eye problem maybe that's not so good but it seems to be swimming well. If your water quality is so good and you are feeding them good then a visually impaired fish shouldn't be such a big deal.

Ants America Is it a 20 long or high? If it's a high I would get rid of both of the plecos. If it's a long I would still find another home for one of the bristle noses. They have pretty large bio loads, even one in a 20 gal is pushing it a bit to some people, much less two. Also what gender are the gouramis? Not two males, right? If you have a male still be careful as guppies can be fin nippers and there are lots of stories of gouramis killing fancy guppies.
@zookeeper3502

I changed my mind so I just got 2 black fin tetras to start with also it is 20 long. I take full ownership for my actions, and all your accusations are correct. I even made a KZbin video about it to further incriminate myself.

I have a landscaping company near me that sells this "Rundle Rock" in huge 300lb-10,000lb boulders. I took home a 300lb rock and smashed it up with my sledgehammer and threw the chunks in my tank. Its actually a limestone, so it will keep the pH, GH, KH up to Rift Lake specs (but my water is pretty much saturated liquid rock off of the mountains in which this rock comes from).

You should dedicate your tank to either Tanganyika or Malawi lake species. I kept Malawi cichlids for over 25 years because I found the species from Lake Malawi much more colorful, easy to keep (they are very hardy), they are generally less expensive than Tanganyikans and they come in all different shapes.Malawi cichlids also have great personalities.

Yeah, this happens a lot actually, i would say it is even worse with reptiles. With reptiles like Leopard Geckos and other, people seem to think that the pets need no exercise or ability to move in the tanks, and they don't buy proper or breed their own food for them to properly give them the nutrition the pets need. Pet abuse is extremely common, even with people who consider themselves to be pet lovers or even remotely caring people.

I really enjoyed the video. You seem like a smart guy and i can tell you care about fish too. It's understandable in the end why you returned the fish. It really doesn't relate the same to adopting a dog or something. A fish tank is a piece of living art. If you pay for quality fish that's what you should get. You have a great tank and the new fish are looking great too. Thanks for the video.

I would have asked for my money back too. I may have kept a few of the better quality fish but who is to say. I would have been rather ticked because a sick fish can contaminate the hole tank. I would always have a quarantine tank before introducing them to a community. I would say you made the right call.

Sorry about the purchase :( Wouldn't they eventually heal and fatten up and look beautiful again? Also, no matter how thick glass is, tempered, etc, I just can't understand how so much heavy rock doesn't break the bottom lol Great tank!

I suspected that these fish had poor genetics, and the phenotype with the orange band was not going to manifest even if the fish were healthy. As for the rocks, I do double styrofoam. I support the bottom of the tank with it, and I also add some inside the tank on the bottom. It spreads out the load on the glass, and prevents any form of deflective load, which makes it safe. The sand also buffers out the dynamic load if I accidentally drop one.

tamonettX500 glass (or silica) is extremely hard... why are you surprised again? Glass is extremely hard but is also brittle... are you picturing him "dropping" the rocks in? glass does not handle impact well, but is extremely strong. how stupid can someone be?

They act so aggressive towards one another. How large do they get? Also, the tank looks over stocked. I'm glad you got your money back. Maybe you can buy fewer fish and better quality. Good Luck.
