YAKfilms Do you guys play music during the actual filming for reference, or did she dance to no music? I can tell that you guys added this song when editing, I'm curious about the actual filming process. Thanks!

Eric L. I have the same question too!
@Dmeech1009 жыл бұрын
Eric L. They probably used a jambox or portable speaker while filming. Theres NO WAY she could be THAT on beat without actually hearing the music. Also, i'm pretty positive she planned the routine beforehand - ie this is pre choreographed by her.
@TheDrums338 жыл бұрын
+Eric L. You can see some walkers moving to the beat ( i don't remember if it's this video or another ) so you can guess there's music ^^

As much as I'd love to see that... No way. Dancing, especially hip hop, is about expression and art. You cannot make it an official sports competition, where marks and deductions are given by judges. It's very subjective, Red Bull BC is enough. Don't need more!

dw, i don't need to imagine. Even better, this is what i saw in the video. When she is at the stores of the subway. 1:19 girl on the back, 1:32 dude with the cellphone on the left, 1:47 grandma on the back. Clear examples of what you say. Now, 1:34 the two girls behind the dude on the left, 1:37 the girls on the right, 1:57 and the woman from the store. Of course there are other things involved, like the camera and the music, but that response from the people is for what it is worth...

I think it has to do with our fear of illness. Dancing without music could seem like one has a mental illness. Despite the (mostly) commonly known fact that psychological problems aren't contagious, we still make the association with illness. We behave in a hostile, or cautious manner towards weird, out of place behavior, myself included, and I know what popping is. Imagine someone who doesn't know what it is.
@croix44411 жыл бұрын
My statement is awkward, I was pretty tired when I wrote it. But yeah. The whole point of dancing is that you're moving to music. Even if I recognize the moves, it's still really odd to see someone popping to nothing. It kinda looks like they're having a seizure, makes it really awkward for everyone without the context of music. In an ideal world, you could burst into dance whenever you want, without music, and not be thought less of for it, but we don't live in an ideal world.
@FenrirLupo11 жыл бұрын
so you are saying that you dance popping, but if you see someone dancing popping without music you are like WTF is this guy doing?... your statement is kinda awkward... but like i said, true, people may have a different reaction on this, some may like it, others not, and these dancers don't need to be played the music for them to dance, the music is in their heads, and that's what makes it even more awesome, but again, that is my perception..

haha, well... if you are not good at it or you are shy or you feel intimidated, then yes, YOU do it at home, but when someone's really great, show to the world, its streetdance after all, on the STREETS, and its part of making a statement, a shoutout to all hip hop dancers and lovers of the urban dance culture. If you dont like it, why do you watch it, go watch something else...

@thethreeamazingmen12 жыл бұрын
that would be like introducing music or painting..it wouldnt make sense because they are an art form, not a sport. Dance does involve physical exercise but its purpose is to be an artform... besides they already have gymnastics...have you seen that!!! O__O amazing stufff
@TheGokussj303012 жыл бұрын
there r many fighting styles but they choose certant ones and but you r right if they did make dance part of the olmpics they would have to classify it but bboy would be a great one to add since its so flashy and group dance battles would be nice to srry for spelling
@RealKoman12 жыл бұрын
IMO dance shouldn't be ever called a sport. Dancing is an art, everyone makes it different, everyone should be looking for his/her own style, so it's rules wouldn't be as simple as all the sports have. This is what makes it beautiful and this is what makes it evolve, right?
@TheWariorPrincess12 жыл бұрын
The dancing is unquestionably awesome.. but I can't help looking at the people's expressions like... 'is she okay?' or when they wonder how to walk pass her. hh... I tell you people, when you see one like this, you STAY and WATCH! BTW, The subway scene is the best part!

well, not everyone, but yeah, some people, and like i said, maybe because some people are shy or feel intimidated, by the "society" in general, that they will be labeled as something, as you put it, but for me its part of making a statement, to the society...

No way dancing can ever be a sport. It's mostly and all about forms of expression and creativity. If there were Bboy battles as an olympics then that just ruins the culture and hip hop to dancing.

Popping in public trying to show off trying to be seen, why can't u just do it at your house, trying to show off nobody cares they got there own lives go pop below the river bed.
