there are sections that sound like old time jazz, other sections where it sounds like modern day jazz like cory henry and even parts that seems influenced by the japanese school. I love it!!!

Thats so kapustin! Lots of tritone subs fellow enlightened individual. I love how you can't tell where the stress is going to fall it gives it this additive time feel. Your runs are nice and clean but could be faster. Amazing syncapation. You would benifit from listening to some more gershwin probably to get your harmony and chords a bit more consistent (like maybe his nouvlette in fourths?). Overall an outstanding composition.

I like it! I am classically trained but am learning jazz right now. How do you go about choosing such notes? Like the intervals on the runs and such, are you following a general scale like the blues scale? I'd love to know a good resource where I can better understand

Mostly I rely on my intuition and trial and errors cuz I rewrite the same part over and over until it sounds "good"
