Not only do I main Bridget, but I was first introduced to her through her inclusion in Strive and this was like a few months after my egg cracked and not only did her theme really resonate with me but she made me feel seen. To be completely honest she was a huge inspiration for me even in her first introduction when she was considered a femboy. When she was an egg she had to prove "his" masculinity to "his" village, which had a superstition that same sex twins was a bad omen, so bridgets parents dressed "him" up as a girl. As Bridgets journey continued the superstition was proven wrong, but after reflecting she blossomed into what she is now, despite the contradictory past, with mentors like Ky Kiske and Goldlewis Dickinson, she was able to find her true self which is just inspiring. Personally for me I always doubt myself in who I am as a trans person for things in my past that don't line up completely but Bridget is always there to prove that our past isnt everything and that we should always keep moving forward no matter what others think! Despite not maining Bridget (I main potemkin and bridget is like my 5th main) getting to know her lore and story just makes her so much more badass, real, and just amazing, its mind boggling to me how people can think that her inclusion in strive is a retcon to the older games when that is so far from the truth, at least thats how I see it analyzing it all from a transfems perspective. TL;DR Bridgets story is misunderstood by transphobes and shes fucking awesome

At 0:47, the girl on the left is Mai Natsume from BlazBlue. She's the main character of the Variable Heart side story and a member of Sector 7. She was originally a boy named Mai Hazuki, until she discovered a grimoire that morphs your body into "the ideal image" and became a girl. It took her a while to get used to her new body and she had to sift through some annoying and stupid gender stereotypes to get there, but she decided she loved her new body just the way it was, and she even got a cool possessed spear out of it.

I forget what beat-em-up game she's from but basically she was cis in the Japanese manual but trans in the american because the localizers thought people wouldn't want to beat up a cis woman. After years of confusion one of the creators of the game stated she is trans in America but cis in Japan and another said she has had bottom surgery in the American version but hasn't in the Japanese. Since trans women who haven't had bottom surgery can't be legally female in Japan this impies she is not legally a woman in Japan but probably is in the American localization. She's also in some Street Fighter games. Also I may be enby but I wish I was automatically good at Biscuit. +R is hard and I think she's cute but I don't like playing her.

I’m not sure about the other fighting game character one of the first memes you showed, but the other one is Poison. She’s literally the OG trans character to make a long story short. She was originally a female in the Japanese version of final fight one but they changed to be a trans woman in the west The reason is because they developers thought we would be OK with punching trans women instead of cis women for some reason but yeah, then she just became a trans icon and as per usual with trans characters, people denied that she’s trans. Some even say she’s only trans in the western versions of final fight and streetfighter which doesn’t make any sense she’s trans. Get over yourselves.

The FGC triumphs with representation! God I love this community and I'm glad its been blended with the trans community through characters like Bridget recently and then older examples such as Poison, a community that fosters a healthy competitive spirit that includes people from all walks of life and has characters from all the variety of fighting games that represent those walks of life? Whats not to love? Seeing all the unique competition in tournaments is just as amazing as seeing the unique ways these players play, and of course resonate with their character, this example cannot be more true for Bridget herself inspiring so many trans people. Its amazing to see this game that I've loved for years now getting this kind of representation. I got into Guilty Gear after a friend discovered I play fighting games (we were pretty freshly friends) and immediately the Bridget drama happened and the extent people were going to to say she's not trans was insane. At a point they started saying "it only happens in the bad ending, and you wouldn't want her to be trans because it implies being trans is bad". Which sadly I saw some people switch sides after being told that. (for anyone reading there is a lot of stuff for people debunking the bad ending argument that should check out if you're sceptical, I don't have the links on me but searching it will easily give you both sides of the argument, start would have been between a year or 2 ago. there was a lot it won't be hard to find)

The history of Poison is a bit.. wonky. If I remember correctly, she was a cis woman in Japan, but when the game was brought to America, they made her a trans woman because they thought Americans wouldn’t like the idea of beating up woman. Eventually it was settled on her being a post-op trans woman in Street Fighter x Tekken
