2:13 - TLDR: it looks nicer and greatly reduces the risk hair will fall out of their swim caps during performances. Its important to understand we are talking about *artistic* swimmers also, not athletes. These guys and girls actually need to care about how they look while swimming outside of practical considerations that an athletic swimmer would.

imma be that guy. If a helicopter main rotor dies it glides like a plane does. Its called auto rotation, and is a extremely important part of learning how to fly a helicopter. and just to explain it a little. A plane can glide because of the wings still moving though the air. And a helicopters rotor is basically a wing. When a Heli loses power and starts losing alt, air starts pushing though the rotors and keeps it spinning. Which even though its not as controllable as a plane. Its still a controllable decent.

Aviation guy here. If you lose power with a helicopter you're not dead. The blade spins on its own without power, so as you go down the air makes the blade spin. That then gives you lift through the rotation. That way a pilot can do something called an auto-rotation where you're able to basically glide down and land safely. People who fly helicopters practice that kind of thing all the time. Meanwhile, with the vast majority of drones, if you lose one of the propellers you're basically fucked. They all have to work at the same time otherwise the balance is off, you tumble end over end, and crash into the ground. They've tried to make drones with software that makes it so the other propellers are able to compensate for the lost one, but I've never seen one that actually works well. And those were on the small drones. These big fuckers? You're super screwed. That design shown had a bit of a wing, so maybe they could try to use that to glide, but I doubt it. I'd never, and I mean never, get in a drone like that. I'd prefer an autonomous helicopter.
