I knew cooking reduced the weight of the meat (from lost water, mostly), but I didn't know that this was the ratio. So 6 oz is actually spot on for what an 8 oz steak should weigh after being cooked. Huh.

It's 8oz before cooking at any restaurant. There's no way to guarantee an after-cooking weight since depending on the fat content, the type cooking (rare or well-done), or the cooking method are variables on a given cut of meat.

Those meat weights are supposed to be the precooked weight. You will always lose some weight after cooking.

9:51 im not a expert but a anti personnel landmines has a spring calibrated with the right tension for the lower end of human weight . A child can set them off a dog can set them off. You don't want it to go off while your burying them and you don't want field mice setting them off.

They probably know the rates aren't heavy enough to trigger the mine is they may weigh the rat before bringing them out to make sure they won't set it off since most mines require I think is 2-4lbs of force to set most kinds off.

almost all menus say " all weights before cooking". As for the rats and landmines. They usually know what weight they are set to need before triggering. So they would know tht a rat wont set them off. Even if they had a big meal that day. :)
