I was a cadet on a summer camp on the bagotville airbase. Started playfighting in the barracks and ended up ass up inside the wall. The guy picked me up and slammed me into the wall but it broke and I got stuck upside down inside. We hid the hole in the wall with a safety poster and no one found out before we left 6 weeks later. Was great.😂

I was Airborne artillery. When I was an E4, back in the '90s, my dad called the post CSM at Ft Bragg to find out why I hadn't called that month.... My 1sg went to my house at 3AM and took me to HQ to call my dad on the CSM's phone. I never lived that down.

In basic we were in bnoc barracks so some guys were hitting the vending machines and the drill sergeants found out well I thought I was got because I was having my mom send stuff in the mail like candy and those little packs you add to water to flavor it no one snitched on me but when the sergeants came after the vending guys I got caught up in it and the drill sergeants had us singing YOU GOTTA KNOW WHEN TO FOLD EM KNOW WHEN TO HOLD EM KNOW WHEN TO WALK AWAY And so on for the 1st sergeant CSM and the Major the entire chorus and we even did it at graduation aswell

Grandpa served in Vietnam, told me a story about when a couple marines brought 2 POWS to a camp he was at, didn’t have anywhere to put them besides a cage in the center. Funniest and dumbest thing I heard was from a friend about how they had a guy in their platoon try to sneak out a second story window after visiting a barracks bunny and their DS caught him. DS put the recruit on the "self-harm" watch list as punishment. They took his belt and boot laces and made the recruit sleep next to the fire watch desk.
