Funny CV: An Application for Pediatric Occupational Therapy | Nous Space
Each pediatric occupational therapy session takes considerable time, with parents having to spend time and money on travel, while occupational therapists must dedicate time to preparation and managing patients during therapy sessions.
In this video, “Kim” Thitisan Goodburn, a Computer Engineering alumnus from Mahidol University International College, introduces us to “FunnyCV,” a pediatric occupational therapy application. This project, developed by students from Mahidol University’s Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), recently won a National Research Award. We’ll also discuss their inspiration and the development process.
FunnyCV is a desktop application that combines computer vision with occupational therapy to engage pediatric patients in physical activities. It’s designed to help children aged 3 and above develop eye-hand coordination and improve fine motor skills in the hands and wrists. With its cute and user-friendly interface, FunnyCV allows children to do therapy exercises anywhere using a computer, notebook, or laptop, while occupational therapists can monitor and evaluate children’s progress through data collected by the application.
The FunnyCV application received an Honorable Mention at the 2024 National Research Award in the category of information technology and communication arts, as part of their project “Computer Vision Based Interactive Application to Improve Eye-hand Coordination Skill in Occupational Therapy.”
