Go read the Watamote Manga. Tomoko Kuroki gets major character development as she makes a lot of friends. The Manga has way more characters. And a longer storyline than the Anime. It's a must read for all fans of the Anime. Especially for people who want more of this series.

He's not wrong that there is "major character development", but this comes all at once around chapter 75 because the author did a hard pivot to a more commercially-viable genre (harem comedy) shortly after the anime was unsuccessful and interest in the character waned. The manga now bears no resemblance to Watamote the anime. I dropped it. It's not bad or anything, but I definitely don't think people who like the anime would necessarily like the manga post chapter 80.

In the manga yeah kind of. Shes still awkward but she makes friends. The anime doesn’t really give a resolution definitively, it stops at like a weird cliffhanger ish ending.
