Usually people who don't like this type of animation are modern anime fans. Most anime productions have a very detailed animation style, but sadly that is their strongest point. The "style over substance" approach has a cost - ridiculous amounts of filler, shameless fanservice and little to no effort at character development and humor. I'm glad that DCAU cartoons took the "less is more" mindset, with simple animation style, but great stories and characters.

They're the kind of couple you'd think would just end up being a wild affair, but if written properly they stand as one of the best, healthiest, and longest lasting couples out there. They've got some witty banter between them and they obviously respect and admire each other without idolizing or romanticizing the other. They'll gas each other up, but they know when to knock some sense into the other. They're a great couple, one of my favs tbh.

Stefan Notchev Laurel was heavily improved going into Season 4 and then thy went and killed her. Worst decision they’ve EVER made. Then they introduce E2 Laurel and she’s badass and we’re expecting her redemption arc and for her to take the Black Canary mantle. Then they give us Dinah. I loved Dinah season 5. I liked her the first half of Season 6...then the last half not so much. Now this season she hasn’t done anything. Laurel is getting redemption but I doubt she’s gonna take the Black Canary mantle now. Now Felicity..... Season 3 was great. Season 4 sucked because of her. Season 5 found the PERFECT BALANCE. Season 6 was towing in S4 territory but for the most part, good. This season... even though I love Dark Felicity, I like her on her own AWAY from Ollie. Them together is not working. Every Canary fan is waiting for that slip up and when it happens... oooh sir gonna be good

See, this is how I know that Sara isnt the true BC on Arrow, but she doesnt act like this at all on the show, and she doesnt fight like BC, and she doesnt have the outfit and barely rides the motorcycle, they need to hurry up and make Laurel BC because we all Katie Cassidy can pull this version, which is the true version of BC, off.

In fact you are sir. While it is true that the Black Canary in Arrow does not act like the Black Canary in Justice League Unlimited (which is not even the source material, the Green Arrow comics are), it is also true that the main character of Arrow, Oliver Queen, also does not act like his Green Arrow counterpart in JLU. He also does not fight like Green Arrow, or have the same costume. By your reasoning, Oliver Queen in Arrow would not even be the real Green Arrow, and he would have to be replaced by some other guy with a beard that looks like it came from a playing card King and an outfit that looks like it's made of spandex. Within the context and character development of the CW show, Sara Lance is the real Black Canary; she's got the look, the skills, and the back story. Killing her off and making Laurel the Canary just because her name is Dinah Laurel Lance would be an awful decision by the writers, and a disservice to the actress playing Sara Lance.

Rinzler First of all, I am a girl. Second of all Justice League was made from the comics, the way BC is in the comics is exactly the way she is in that show, so Sara isnt like her at all. Third of all, yes Oliver Queen isnt like Green Arrow at all in Arrow, I didnt like that either, but I am more offended by Sara because I absolutely adore BC, and she is a horrible attempt at a BC, also they dont have to replace Oliver because he is going to change anyway, the writers said that his journey isnt over, that there is still a lot he needs to go through. If the writers had said that Sara was going to stay BC, I would be expecting them to change her like they are planning with Oliver but they already announced that Laurel will be BC and besides, her name carries a large weight, just like the name Bruce Wayne, if there was a batman show and the character named Bruce Wayne was in it and he wasnt batman, everyone would be in an uproar. In smallville they didnt make superman someone named John did they? or Green Arrow someone named Chris, or Flash someone named Thomas. They have been planning for Laurel to be BC since the beginning when Tommy called her by her full name and said that she was always trying to save the world and she said that if she didnt then who will. They also dropped the hint when she was talking about how she wore fishnets to a Halloween party and Oliver said she looked good. This was their plan from the start, that is why Sara is not the true BC or doesnt act like the true BC because she isnt the true BC.

At no point have they ever announced Laurel will be Black Canary. If you read that as factual information in an article, then post a link. I also don't think that a mention of Laurel wearing fishnets in any way indicates her destiny as a superhero, and that quote about "if she didn't save the world then who will" was most likely alluding to her working with The Arrow in Season 1. Furthermore, Laurel herself doesn't act like the supposed "true BC," and nowhere have I read that it was the writer's plan from the start. Oliver and Sara of course will both go through changes as the series progresses, but the writers are under no obligation to make them exactly the way they are in the comics. Their job first and foremost is to make a successful show; references to the comics comes second, which is why the story is always top priority over introducing random DC characters.

That was pretty funny. Though IMO, the two funniest scenes in any animated work involving Black Canary came from outside the DCAU stuff proper. 1. In Young Justice, that one brief scene where she effortlessly LOLpwned Superboy. Hilarious. 2. In Crisis on Two Earths, there's a scene when Captain Super Jr. has Firestorm in a headlock or something. She comes right up to the former and asks "You want to hear a secret?"...and then blasts a Canary Cry right in his ear. Even more hilarious.

As I was watching the show, I was hoping that Oliver would become more like this over time and Laurel wouldn't be such a painis in Uranus but by season 3 I just couldn't handle the brooding and dull characters anymore. I really like the way Green Arrow was portrayed in JLU and I wish that was kind of looked at as a reference point for other portrayals in terms of what his personality is like.

Well I'm no Jiu Jitsu expert... oh wait, I am. Well there is 3 or 4 ways to TRY and get out of such position, but basically, judgeing from how he was knocked away like that, I'd say that she was agile and strong enough to just grab his neck with her legs from behind by a surprise and toss him into a wall. But outside of cartoon it wouldn't really be as effective. I would recommand trying to turn over on your back, that should get one of your hands free and anable all sorts of next manouvers.
