A sarcastic reminder for those who attend video meetings that the fact that video conferencings are attended from the comfy of one's own home doesn't mean that you have to dress casually. you are on the same table with high executives and should know that it's the same formal meeting you used to attend in the board room.

Hi there. You make a very good point and a great reminder. I know for myself, I make a point of wearing a polo or dress shirt for work meetings, regardless of who it is. I think it's important to maintain some professionalism.

It depends on the company culture of course. Most young software companies don't dress like big corporates or bankers. Neat casual like Chinos with a good shirt and sports jacket is already the C-level dress code in these companies.

I still like to look business casual, however, I have met some who have worn sports jerseys or AC-DC T shirts on call. So there is a wide range. I just error on the side of conservative instead of wearing a white tank top. :)

How can you say this is working from home goes wrong? can you make your coworkers laughing so hilariously and relaxing at the end of a stressful work day like this? I think this is GENIUSLY AWESOME!! plus, there are numerous benefits from working from home from economic viewpoint, to security, to social interactions, to name a few: A-Economic: for both employees and employers: save gas, save vehicle maintenance, reduce car insurance, reduce traffic congestion, save office rental and building maintenance, save clothings, all these is to improve quality of life and our environment, reduce earthquake as reduce commotion and motions due to less traffic, etc. and etc. B- security: you are at your house, you are not afraid of home burglar, you can at the same time monitor your kids (if you have a smart plan, you can do this without your kids disrupt your working hours), etc. and etc. C- social interaction: this definitely reduces any kind of working harassment such as sexual harassment, power abuse, bullies, bureaucracy, etc. and etc. D- (you can name more here) the list goes on and on!!! It is all about people need to learn the new habit and disciplines of working from home with the REAL WORK ETHICS!! that is all!!! then we can have a win win situation that is just great!

This is great and should be required viewing before using zoom. I've only been to two zoom meetings and they were very annoying so have avoided it since then. In one meeting one guy was constantly walking round his house, and at one point he chopped up fruit and made a smoothie with a blender, with his microphone and video on! I was shocked. He made noise the ENTIRE time and didn't mute. It was so disruptive and distracting. Nobody dared say anything. I finally said 'can everyone mute their microphones unless they're talking' and everyone agreed. No idea why that wasn't already an established practice. In both meetings there were usually 2 people who dominated the chat, barely ever muted themselves. It meant everyone was waiting for ages for them to be quiet so other people could talk, but these people never got the hint, they enjoyed having the floor way too much. What was so frustrating was how zoom kept moving to whoever was making noise meaning you couldn't hear people talking if another person had forgotten to mute themselves. It was so frustrating I left both meetings early and haven't been to any more. It would be bearable if everyone practiced basic etiquette.
