He was being tested, by droid and by Elia. She gave him the idea and he came back to her place to say he was up for it. Elia was shocked and disappointed by Pershing to accept her plan. She did not trap him he trapped himself and he was quite happy to break laws and enter the Star Destroyer for what he wanted to do, even though the droid said the experiments were illegal, and he could have stopped at any time. Elia scrambled his mind, so that research is now dead.

Poor Pershing? The guy is a eugenicist, who has through out the series shown he was willing to go along with whoever he saw as having power in the moment. In this episode it took all of two days and a package of biscuits to flip him. He had a head full of dangerous information, and a penchant for finding ways to justify his choices, that boy needed to be put down.

I think people keep thinking we are six years after ROTJ when in fact we have already had three, maybe four years passed since the first Mando episode. Favreu has said Grogu was with Luke for nearly two years and season 1 and 2 do Mando could have been over the course of a year or two. So that’s four years there and Season 3 could be taken place some time after that. So A Force Awakens is no longer 25 years away. It is more like 18 years away.

Kind of a wasted episode. It was way too in depth with the doctor. It was cool seeing what happened to the empire after the Return of the Jedi. But this was like 40 minutes of unnecessary filler. Still okay but not up the usual excellent standard of this show.

I've seen so many negative reviews about this episode. I think it was great. I enjoy story building (love RPG games for that reason). There's a lot going on in the galaxy that's slowly coming to view. I think we'll be seeing the rise of the First Order. Dr Pershing knew too much about the cloning activities and I think he became a loose end. To think the New Republic is decommissioning their fleet makes no sense, or did they learn anything from the Clone Wars? As far as Bo, I wouldn't be surprised seeing her riding the Mythosaur and claiming back her leadership - btw her ship is a Kom'rk-class fighter or Gauntlet that we saw in the Clone Wars series (and comics), if I remember correctly...but I've been known to be wrong...from time to time.

I think Bo-Katan and the Armorer are being political, in a good way. The Armorer is inviting Bo-Katan to join them, but also hinting that she's amenable to helping them resettle Mandalore. They are all Mandalorians, whether they agree or not, and if they want to resettle their home world, they're going to need to work together. Very interesting development.

Don't forget the Mythosaur. As important as that find may be to Bo Katan, once the Armorer and crew find out that a mythosaur witnessed Din's rebirth from apostate AFTER what happened to Mandalore, Din will be the closest thing to God since Mandalore the Great. Even Paz Viszla may respect Din after that. A lot of people complain about the lack of facial expressions due to the helmets. I rather enjoy it. Stories where body language tell part of the communication. Paz is grudgingly accepting the Armorer's words where Din is concerned. He was definitely butthurt at Bo Katan being allowed in.

My thought on taking the helmets off: I actually hope they don’t. Something that has absolutely amazed me since S1E1 was the sheer volume of emotion Din/Pedro could convey even with a helmet on, and especially in this episode with Bo/Katee as well. The ability to evoke deep emotion with two people in full helmets and an animatronic puppet just blows my mind, and I’m here for it because it’s something I’ve never truly seen on screen before.

Also, I think that tie interceptor attack was our first glimpse of Thrawn becoming involved. Bo-Katan said that it was a lot of ships for an Imperial Warlord, and since Ahsoka was looking for him last season, we know that he's already back and has been operating covertly for some reason. It makes sense that we'd see more hints of him prior to the Ahsoka series getting started.

I'm seeing a lot of people think the same, but my biggest conter-question to that is what the hell is the strategic value in bombing Bo's home? Why would that be of any interest to Thrawn? Just seems like something random for him to get involved in. He has no vendetta against Bo (or any knowledge of her at all I don't think) or the Mandalorians as a whole for that case. If he's trying to operate from the shadows (I still believe he's hanging out in the Unknown Regions near Chiss space), an attack like this seems like an unnecessary risk of exposing himself.

The only thing we know right now is that he and Ezra have been hanging out somewhere all this time doing god knows what lol. I'm still firmly of the belief that either Thrawn or both have made their way into the Unknown Regions and into Chiss Ascendancy space. We've gotten teases that the Ahsoka series is going to explore the SW galaxy in a way we haven't seen before yet on screen, so I personally take that as meaning we will see more of the Unknown Regions as Ahsoka and company search for them. Could be wishful thinking on my part though. That's just an area of the galaxy that is absolutely ripe for more storytelling.

To be fair his Mandalorian role is a lot simpler because you know, he has a helmet on, so he just has to sit in a recording studio to record all his lines so he can just read the script infront of him and not have to memorize a large portion of it. The Mandalorians that follow "This Is The Way" are members of a cult, regardless of what people are doing to bend over backwards to say it's not. It's similar to ancient religions like the Romans and Greeks had. Being indoctrinated into that ideology is not a good thing if you're aim is to keep the peace currently and it's one of the reasons there's been so much in-fighting. Bo Katan is my favourite character (besides Din) and she's sick of the in-fighting as she said last episode so I'm hoping she's the one who helps bring the Mandalorians back together regardless of differences of rigid practices and can find some common ground fingers crossed.

I’m sure I’ll be in the minority here, but I really liked this entire episode. I enjoy having deeper and introspective looks into various settings, characters, and situations, and I found myself actually sitting up and leaning forward as the episode progressed. While the two separate storylines and overall dialogue were perhaps lacking in nuance, it still intrigued me. I thought the episode contained a good mix of action, continued character progression (especially for Bo Katan), and even added to some lore and overall world building. I try to approach these shows as being “along for the ride”, and forego all the dot connecting, speculation, and my own personal expectations. While there may be bumps along the journey, I leave it to the creators to get us to their intended destination in a satisfactory way (and hopefully not drop us over a waterfall or leaving us hanging off a cliff 😜).

I really liked the switch-up of this episode. While it felt liek a jarring aside, I think Dr. Pershing's story is going to loop back to Grogu's story. I'm anxious to see where it goes. As for Bo and Din, the religious stuff in this show feels much more cultural than ideological to me. The rituals the Mandalorians share bind them as a people. The fact the Bo ticked a couple of simple boxes allowed them to welcome her back into the fold with no strings - an important difference to a cult - and provide shelter. The 'Living waters' test seemed more like using a Ph strip on your pool than a magic spell. agaon, the Mandalorians are much more about ritual than mysticism. The forgemaster still uses technology and science to make the eapons for each Mando, but the ritual imbues them with meaning. I love thinkng about this stuff.

A fascinating mix of an episode. Starts off all traditional Mando style - with a dish of Top Gun - pew pews and Grogu being adorbs. Then we get a big chunk of slow burn drama with secrets, double crosses, social commentary..an Andor outtake really. Then back to the cult for some redemption and permanent helmet hair. A strange blend, almost a dip, but still loving the show so far (and feeling pretty bad for the timid clone enthusiast doctor).

Pershing knew too much : The Nevarro facility, and him trying to take Grogu's sample fit the theory that it was a part of project Harvester, which was the first step of Palpatine's cloning project for the First / Last Order. So she framed him as an Imperialist relapsing, and then provoked an "accident" to fry his brain, so the New Republic won't know about Snoke and all. Also, her saying she never had the choice fit what we've learned about the First Order recruitement method : Kidnapping child, and brainwashing them. Like Finn for exemple. This is probably one of the first kind of these "recruit".

I remember seeing the Armorer pour a liquid in the past when she began on Din's armor and other stuff. It had the same effect as the sample of the Living Waters. She must have a good supply of it saved or she just adds a few drops at a time to preserve what she has. Now she can get more at any time. As for G68... My take on Elia is that she isn’t working for Gideon, she’s probably working for Thrawn and has been the whole time. Gideon is likely merely one of his commanders. Elia needed Pershing because he knew exactly the equipment that was needed to continue the research for Thrawn. She ratted out Pershing and eliminated the loose thread. The reason why the episode focused on that story so much was because Thrawn will be the Thanos of all these new SW series.

Bo Katan probably isn't all in, but it's comforting and convenient for now. I too think the Pershing story was slow and perhaps should have been spread, but it does set up the bigger plot. Thrawn and/or Gideon wants Grogu's DNA and is hunting Bo Katan if not all Mandalorians. I am convinced the pirates will return in the show. Bo and Din need that ship, and I'd like to think that G11 isn't just dropped now we have R5. And then there's the teaming up with Ahsoka (and Ezra?). Bo will get the Mando's to work with 'the sorcerers'. Her saying they used to get along seems to foreshadow it.

While I do not see the Dark Saber quite like the Elder Wand, I can see the argument, as the droid did best Din, and it was, it would appear, in the process of killing him. It took possession of the Dark Saber, and she definitely bested the droid. But it is the legacy of winning it in battle, and Bo would either have to believe for herself that it passed to her this way, or lie to others when she claimed to have won it. It's a spirit, an ideal, that is the impact of the possession of it. 5:16-5:20 regarding IG-11. it's a hunter droid, look at how thin he is on the front to back axis, how narrow his arms and legs are and his should and hip placement. While not a "Transformer", he could fold his arms and his legs to potentially make himself into a little larger than an oversized carry-on piece of luggage. While the N-1 isn't designed for "vacation travel" he could be stored in the droid compartment, taking up less space than an Astromech like R5D-4 or R2-D2. In "storage mode" as I would call it, he would be able to fit in that compartment and still leave Grogu a mildly cramped amount of space [purely based on the limited on screen information about IG units (IG-11 and IG-88) 12:55-13:05 Remember when you got drunk, and missed something from the past? This is the amazon prime package you ordered while thinking about it, you were just too drunk to remember ordering it. 17:47-17:51 "lucky" yes... She claims to have done this before. What if she knows the number of droids checking tickets on the train, and they have a specific pattern of checking, and the train adds and removes cars based on passenger load? She might know, for example, if the train is longer than x, the droids can't get to the end before we reach the destination, assuming each passenger takes 2/3 the average time to produce their tickets on request? Going on the presumption they don't have tickets _because_ this would flag them as being outside their designated perimeter. She might have simply studied the information. She was a communications officer. [I don't believe this hypothetical to be the case, but, it could be plausible enough if the writers and show runner handled it right.] The staying because "he's a friend," this scene raised several extra flags for me. 1. Since the operator isn't staying, why would anyone else be allowed to remain in the control room? 2. Why is there no safeguard in place to alert someone elsewhere if the "mitigator" is adjusted above 80% of starting to be dangerous levels? 3. Why is there no safeguard to prevent approaching dangerous levels without a security device for "override" which would require someone with that override to be preset (even if the override is stolen, someone has to have it) 4. She was Imperial, and because you've never caught her breaking the rules, without authorization, she gets special treatment and can break "certain" rules to weed out people who aren't compliant in the Asylum Program? 25:46-26:08 I don't know if this is where it will go, and the time from the Clone War to present in universe. Maybe a clone, modified or not, had an encounter or a relationship with a woman, who later gave birth to Elia ? Just my brain playing tricks off your query most likely. I could go into a "belief, faith, history, truth, fiction, cult, religion philosophy and duty" tangent, but I'm tired, I could run down rabbit holes for a mobth on this, and almost no one is going to read it if I carry on further.

Dr. Pershing was a loose end that need to be tied up. Stripping his brain of his knowledge of cloning did just that without outright killing him. He served his purpose and needed to be “taken care of”. I suspect Elia is either working with Thrawn or the early stages of The First Order. Thrawn and TFO may also have some kind of connection. I think we’ll see that likely in the Ashoka show, and/or a future SW show. As for Bo Katan, I think she’s keeping mum on the Mythosaur because she sees an opportunity. I bet she’s thinking, “Who needs a Darksaber when I can show Mandalorians my right to rule by riding a legendary Mythosaur that everyone had thought was extinct”. Now that she been excepted into the coven, she has an opportunity to become the leader of a group of extremely orthodox and devoted Mandos. A group that she thinks maybe she can manipulate to follow her and do her bidding. Provided she adheres to their orthodox practices. A price I think Bo is willing to pay to get back into power.

Elia Kane is so intressting, in the online game "Star Wars: The Old Republic" there's a playable calss caled Imperial Agent, wich is a kind of spy that works by infiltrating diffrent groups and stuff for the empire, and she feels alot like a Imperial Agent, and considering Ahsoka is looking for Thrawn, it brings in alot of possiblitys, so looking forwards to the rest of this season, it's amazng so far.

Din's ship has a Name, it is the N-1 - Built and Commissioned by the Queen of Nauboo. The Imperial officer is Omega's evil twin. Pulling on ones ear is a sign of heightened anxiety, He's wound up tighter than a piano string. He was like a fish out of water, and The New Order will offer the opportunity to give him what he wants, she has cemented his fate.

Once again loving your reactions,👍🏽given! Din's ship doesn't have a name. It's a "N1 Naboo Starfighter". In many military doctrines fighters are only occasionally named. Names are usually reserved for larger multi-crew ships and named by their original owners and/or pilots. I love how many reactors groaned and said "Tatooine" when Din said "Someplace they won't find us" ... Tatooine fatigue strikes again 🤣 He's pulling on the ear that was damaged when Cara Dune shot the imperial who was holding him at gun point ... IN THE FACE😁 I agree, Elia faked her surrender to the New Republic in order to get access to Pershing while still actually working for Gideon. Flaying his mind so no one else has access to his cloning expertise.

Science wasn't bad this episode, mainly because it touched on concepts without going into it and making a mistake. Namely Coruscant surface brings questions about the atmosphere on coruscant. If the mountain peak is roughly the height of earths tallest mountains then the atmosphere at ground level must be very dense. The biggest issue is the fact that Star Wars human genetics is stored in a double helix protein. Protein shapes are governed by the molecules that make them up and if it looks like DNA then it's likely that it IS DNA. The issue is that it's cannon that Star Wars takes place in our universe, just in a galaxy far far away so it begs the question of what the biomechanics of life are in this galaxy? I generally don't question fictional life because life can evolve in many different ways but if we are to assume life can only be carbon-based in this series then retroactively some of the organisms we've seen are not physically possible. The flip side is that the Star Wars humans are carbon based due to their planet of origin but not all life necessarily is, however we are exactly the same. This could be because the Star Wars humans are the progenitors of life on Earth. Their DNA looks like the DNA on Earth because they seeded the planet millions of years ago and returned once Earth was suitable to live on. Another possibility is they knew the conditions were right to evolve human life identical to theirs so they began life on Earth as a genetic survival mechanism for a galaxy wide species extinction? IDK, just spit balling.

Was she really working for the Empire? If you notice, they didn’t really care what Pershing had to say about anything. And if that machine really was A different machine, Why would it have the same settings?

I think you used the air quotes because you're a funnylilgal. The ear on Dr. Pershing is like that cause Cara Dune grazed it when she shot the imperial pilot in beginning of chapter18 when he said destroying Alderan was "small price to pay in order to eliminate terrorism in the galaxy".

Its funny how people are so suspicious of the ‘cult’, but it could just be that they accept her because ‘This is Way’. I mean if it is the way that Mandalorians lived before, then a return to that could be a way to unite them, I mean the new way that Bo-Katan used to champion failed. Just playing devil’s advocate here, but its just funny that are so negative to these guys but ok with the jedi which is very cult-like themselves, I mean there are other ways to practice the Force.

The meat of this episode was definitely story building. We know that the girl is there as a double agent, she is definitely Empire aligned and setting up the Doctor did two things... solidified her in the eyes of the New Republic and made sure that cloning tech, or at least his cloning expertise, does not end up in the hands of the New Republic. She's absolutely building her legend to get further into the New Republic. As for the bit about talking with the droid, I think you need to keep in mind how prevalent droids are in the Star Wars medical system, particularly in the formalized regards. I think the only time we've seen humans as medical personnel has been in back alleys and in serving nefarious schemes.

I've always wondered if they only wished a device to never be used for torture, why even allow such high voltages in the first place? Make it so that only low voltages are possible, then one can ONLY crank it to say, 4 as the max, instead of what, 12 or 14, or whatever she did.

The rules of the dark saber were never mentioned in the Clone Wars those rules were made in the Mandalorian. I think it is a way to show the importance of the dark saber and also to ensure Bo Katan doesn’t have to fight Din Djarin. Additionally, in my opinion, it is like the Mandalorian can’t remove their helmets. This only applies to the Children of the Watch.

The story is about how we interact with society. Do we shun society completely. Do we follow the rules, even when the rules are wrong. What do we do if we are framed. Can the rules be manipulated to prosecute the innocent and free the guilty.

I think she set him up to see what all equipment was needed for his testing so she can pass that along to the Moff. Why else let him pick all those things out? If they wanted to just set him up to flay him, they could have done that the moment he set foot on the ship. They didn't have to let him make it to the lab for that. I think the B plot with Pershing ties directly back into the plot with the Moff and what will eventually lead into the Emperor being cloned. Also I think the forge uses water from the living waters, so it reacted a certain way when more was poured in. No idea if that's correct or not, but since she just poured it right in it sort of looks like that's the case.

It all comes together. In the Bad Batch we see the Empire destroying all Cloning facilities and research outside the empire so they can control the Cloning tech. In the new trilogy movies we see the First Order/Final Order used the cloning tech that only they controlled to make Snoke and the resurrected Emperor. Here we see Elia Kane definitely still working for Moff Gideon manipulating Doctor Pershing to grab the right lab stuff he would have needed for clone work which she comandeered (probably for Moff Gideon and the future First Order) and then wipe the mind of one of the few Cloning experts left outside of the Imperial Remnant tying off that loose end. Also regarding Elia Kane's looking like Temuera Morrison and the clones. She's just the right age to be an adult Omega. I hope she's not because I don't want Omega turning bad, but maybe she's another experimental clone like Omega or created from Omega from the cloning facility on Wayland in the Bad Batch.

I too wondered if Elyria (sp?) was some kind of clone. She did look really similar to Jango Fett. Cloning is still a central storyline, along with Mandalorian unity, so we’ll see what develops. I like some are hopeful that Favreau and Filoni are trying to incorporate major plot lines from Timothy Zhan’s “Heir to the Empire” trilogy related to cloning and Grand Admiral Thrawn’s campaign to rebuild the Empire.
