Just stumbled on this site, while searching for some wonders in Science. Am now a fan of this channel. So damn PRACTICAL not magic or some sort of deceptive manipulations. A process - Step by Step in clear language and simple guidance. Cheers Jared and thanks a bunch for sharing your knowledge. Keep posting and will ask your permission to transfer same to the kids. Appreciate MUCH.

You did a good job of showing the assembly. However, typical retail household trash bags are made from plastic that is too thick and heavy for making a hot air balloon. Fortunately, the the thin, light-duty bags often used in offices and schools are perfect.

Warm air rises. Helium rises. Smoke rises. But other things fall like a feather or a ball. That’s not gravity. That’s called weight of object vs air. If it’s lighter than air it will go up, no gravity pull, no matter how heavy the object is. Such as a submarine.

one missed part is the last part. with the 4 candles that would fit through the bottom you could just lay the candle through the bottom and have the foil attach to the bottom of the sticks instead of putting the whole thing inside the balloon. thanks.

Hello sir I know that you did this 3yrs ago but I have a question. We are trying to do this for our science fair experiment and can not get lift off. We have tried a variety of plastic bags with no success. Our structure is sound and have replicated according to your video. Any words of advice to get a success? Thank you love your channel!

Hi Lisa...The key to this is getting the super light and mostly clear plastic bag. I wish we could be more specific. Here is a special thanks for you: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqO2dIqBaMmnl6M

Hi Lisa did you come right? My daughter is also doing this for her science fair and same... we cannot get lift off. We even tried making a bag out of tissue paper.
@lisatota1049 Жыл бұрын
@@naeelasalie4512 we were unable to get liftoff with the heat source attached. We had to make other adjustments and just held it over the candles to fill the bag for liftoff that way. It was a great experiment and we had built about 15 models trying to achieve it.

Hello, anyone good at math here? If I had a blueprint for a 15 cubic meter envelope and had it re-printed at 55% of it original size what volume should my new balloon be? I tried this using the smallest candles, the least amount of tin foil, the least amount of straw (and smallest in diameter), the least amount of tape, and a 22x24 very thin garbage bag...Still, NO GO. The bag needs to be sooooo thin, that if you put a feather in it, the feather would be to heavy and break the bag.

why does air expand when heated?
@pvlcz43604 жыл бұрын
Air doesn’t exactly expand like if you blow up a balloon. It starts moving more taking up more space. It’s like if you had people in an elevator. If they are not moving they will take up less space then if they were bumping into each other. If you still don’t understand I will try to find some good animation.

when i put some hot water in bottle and after throw that and cover by cap it gets shrink why
@sciencetoymaker4 жыл бұрын
Even if you do not have any water in a bottle--just air--and you cool it down, then the air will shrink. Heat expands, cold contracts. The effect is dramatic with water because water expands many times bigger when it turns from liquid to gas (water to steam).
