There were a few years where the park ran Astrosphere a bit faster, but they decided to return to the slower speed at which it currently operates. The ride is more about the visuals than the spinning. You visited in the correct year since Astrosphere was upgraded in 2019 to get the concrete dome (previously it was an air-filled dome) and improved projection effects. This park was crippled by the restrictions imposed by Maine this year. That's why they were closed for 2020. I'm hoping they can have a normal season next year otherwise the owner said they may close permanently.

The park seems as though it’s in a pretty tough financial state. They haven’t gotten anything new since 2012 when they added the Mount Olympus slide complex to the waterpark (which is funny cause Taylor did compare this park to Mount Olympus) and the last new thing they added to the dry park was their Wild Mouse in 2009.

I absolutely agree. I remember being glued on astosphere when I was younger. It more or so has a nostalgic/novelty factor to it now. Still good but just quite as intense as it once was!

Do you remember what years it was faster? I think it was probably the mid-late 90s.

Terror Twister Two is one of the best flat rides ever. I rode it over 100 times last year. It's sad it's not gonna open this year. Terror Twister Two had 11 different cycles last year and is each one is fantastic! Six flags Great America also turns into Peppermint Swirl for Holiday in the park and the designer does a fantastic job with it!

My dad went here as a kid and after watching the new Class Action Park documentary with him, he recalled that Funtown had an Alpine slide which was the same idea. A lot of the time the vehicles broke and u were stuck and someone would crash into you. Didn’t know they had stuff like this back in the day.

the astrodome(indoor scrambler) used to be in a huge dome tent was held up by air, and the entrance and exit was an air lock that's y there is 2 doors, one door must remain closed i accidentally opened the door before the said and a rush of wind went thru, i don't know when they converted it but much safer

I was at the Excalibur Saco Maine funtown splashtown USA today we arrived at 10:30 AM and we left at 4:30 PM and try the bumper boats they're so fun and it's amazing unless you're in a beating hot sun that is not so fun but Astro whatever is so relaxing it has AC and this faces and it kind of feels like you're at a movie theater but you're in the movie theater so amazing I think you should go

Also that scrambler basically has the same history as the scrambler at the great escape. Once outdoors, now indoors. Lights, music, etc

Funtown Splashtown unfortunately has a bit of a bad reputation for some pretty unfriendly employees, especially on Excalibur. It's good park but after a while it got boring for me. I give it a 7/10 overall, good park but really needs some upgrading and new attractions in the next couple years.
@CoasterStudios4 жыл бұрын
I never encountered any unfriendly employees. I hate judging an entire park based off of the actions of a few individuals and how they were on a select day, because its not always like that. Its sad to me when parks build up negative reputations like that.

Funtown has gone downhill sadly. Hot days are great for the amusement park, but I’ve been during peak season and the busiest week of the year (not July 4th week) which is the first week of august/last week of July and the parking lot was probably half full and that’s terrible if you think about it. The park hasn’t added anything new in past years which makes it boring, my family used to go here every year during vacation but we stopped going because they haven’t added anything new, the newest things are the dome of the scrambler, the wild mouse, and mount olympus water slides. The newest ride is wild mouse which is 7+ years old and when nothing is new at the park or changes, it doesn’t add fun. You can also tell that the park was 2 different owners because there is 2 different carousels you can ride and 2 different antique cars as well The log ride though is the tallest in New England, I believe that they have the best swings if your voting between them, canobie, and palace playland. They have the best thunder bolt/matter horn because of the speed, but that’s really it. The park is declining and the owners mentioned if Covid is still here for 2021 then the park might shut down for good. Funtown honestly isn’t worth it and canobie lake park is way better, plus canobie closes later and has more to offer. Plus they’re always adding new things and changing other small things at canobie. Funtown does have a good deal though where after 6pm it’s $11 and for 3 hours worth of rides for that price, it’s really good plus with lines being short, your pretty much guaranteed to hit everything at least once.
